Staff report

A Charlotte man is charged with breaking into an emergency clinic after he ran past authorities responding to an alarm call on Innes Street.

Joseph Graham Johnson Jr., 43, of 8410 Belstead Brook Court, faces charges of breaking and entering; breaking and entering in preparation to commit burglary; and resisting, delaying and obstructing a public officer.

The incident occurred Saturday night at Pro-Med Minor Emergency Center, 628 W. Innes St.

According to Salisbury Police Department reports, officers responded to an alarm at Pro-Med and saw Johnson run out the back door of the business and to his car, which was parked across the street at Salisbury Motor Co.

Police are also investigating break-ins at two other medical offices over the weekend.

A break-in at Community Care Clinic, 315 Mocksville Ave., was discovered Saturday. Salisbury Internal Medicine Associates, 319 Mocksville Ave. was also broken into sometime between Saturday and Monday.

Officials have not said if they believe the break-ins are connected.

Johnson was released from the Rowan County Detention Center after posting a $25,000 bond.

What do you think of the legislature putting parts of Rowan County in three different congressional districts and two state Senate districts?
  • I like it; Rowan will have more members of Congress and the state Senate
  • I don't like it; it's hard enough to figure out who my congressman is
  • I don't care about politics, so it makes no difference to me
