Staff report

The N.C. Highway Patrol has identified the operators involved in two separate motorcycle accidents Saturday in Rowan County.

Both cyclists were treated for their injuries at Rowan Regional Medical Center. Their injuries were not serious.

Trooper C.R. Pierce said Amber Brown, 29, of Salisbury was on a 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle that lost control in a sharp curve on Organ Church Road, near Old Beatty Ford Road.

The motorcycle's tires dropped to a soft shoulder next to the road, sending the motorcycle and Brown into a roadside ditch, reports said. Her injuries included abrasions to her chin and an ear.

The accident occurred about 5:54 p.m.

In the other motorcycle accident, Erik Jones, 28, of Salisbury lost control of his 2001 Honda on Long Ferry Road near Crawford Road. The motorcycle, heading toward Spencer, left the road to the right, clipped a mailbox and came to rest along the side of Long Ferry Road.

Pierce charged Jones with not having a motorcycle endorsement — documentation needed beyond a normal driver's license to operate a motorcycle.

The Long Ferry Road accident happened about 7:33 p.m.

Poll
What do you think of the legislature putting parts of Rowan County in three different congressional districts and two state Senate districts?
  • I like it; Rowan will have more members of Congress and the state Senate
  • I don't like it; it's hard enough to figure out who my congressman is
  • I don't care about politics, so it makes no difference to me
