CONCORD — Windstream Corp. will host 2,500 soldiers and military families from Fort Bragg and the 18th Airborne Corps at the Windstream Pole Night qualifier for the Coca-Cola 600 May 22 at Lowe's Motor Speedway.

"The soldiers and families in Fort Bragg and of the 18th Airborne Corps have made enormous personal sacrifices for our country and it is our privilege to thank them for their service," Stacy Hale, vice president of Windstream operations for the Carolinas, said in a press release Tuesday. "We hope they take this time to enjoy a night with their families and experience all the excitement."

Additionally, Windstream, a phone, broadband and digital TV provider, announced it is partnering with legendary NASCAR driver Bobby Allison for two Green Truck Tour events leading up to Pole Night.

On May 20, a Tuesday, Allison will appear at the Chik-Fil-A in Matthews from 6:30 to 8 a.m. and on May 21 at Concord Mills from 2 to 4 p.m. for a special autograph session.

Consumers and race fans are encouraged to stop by either of these free events to meet one of NASCAR's greatest drivers and to pick up a free family four-pack of tickets for Pole Night. Limit one four-pack of tickets per person while supplies last.

The Green Truck Tour is designed to give back to local communities Windstream serves and educate the public about land-line safety. The tour, which promotes Windstream's phone, broadband and digital TV products and services, runs through November with more than 90 stops in 14 states. The company will donate more than $200,000 by November. More information about the Green Truck Tour and its stops is available online at www.greentrucktour.com.
