E-mail to a friend

The Rowan County Literacy Council will hold a tutor training workshop in the Stanback Room of the Rowan Public Library. Orientation will be held Thursday, May 29, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. to explain the role of the volunteer tutor in helping adults to read or learn English as a Second Language.

At the end of the orientation, participants will be able to sign up for the next three sessions, to be held June 2 and June 5 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and June 7 from 8:30 am to 1:00 p.m. The registration fee for those three sessions is $20 to cover the cost of materials.

In order to be certified as a tutor, participants must attend all four sessions. Reservations for the orientation may be made by calling the literacy office at 704-216-8266 by May 27.

Rowan County Literacy Council is a volunteer organization and a United Way Distinguished Agency.
