Student charged with disrupting class
Rowan County Sheriff's deputies charged an East Rowan High School student after he was cursing in a classroom and hallway.
Andrew Thomas Bartley, 17, was charged April 3 with misdemeanor disorderly conduct/disturbing the peace at 175 St. Lukes Church Road. A report said the student disrupted class and caused a disturbance.
In other Rowan County Sheriff's reports:
- Joaquin Sanchez reported on April 3 someone used his personal information to open an account with Direct TV and more than $600 was taken from his accounts.
- Terrie Blocker William-son reported on April 3 someone took her van from her residence in the early morning at 2935 Shue Road.
- Jeffrey Taylor Marsh reported on April 3 someone removed his radio from his vehicle at 2840 Lentz Road, China Grove.
- Randell Clay Hammonds reported on April 3 that while at work on March 30 at 520 Grace Church Road, someone stole his car radio from his vehicle.
- Joseph Hughes, 8509 Mooresville Road, reported on April 3 someone from Texas used his Social Security number to obtain power from Direct Energy.
- A West Rowan Middle School student was charged with larceny April 3 for stealing a cell phone that belonged to a school employee. Another student was charged with injury to property by scratching off the identification number from the phone.
- George Bumgarner reported on April 3 someone entered his trailer and took items including a washer/dryer set, stove, refrigerator, toilet and air conditioner, also damaging the home at 139 Excel Drive, Kannapolis.
- Bobby Gene Bowers reported an April 3 theft of a vehicle at 130 Red Oak Lane.
- Donna R. Pittman reported on April 4 an intoxicated man drove recklessly around her yard and ran into a neighbor's fence. Donald Wayne Spillman, 58, was charged with misdemeanor vandalism to real property, willful and wanton injury at 255 Grayson Drive.
- Reliable Pawn reported someone tried to pawn stolen tools on April 4 and received $250 at 107 Mooresville Road.
- During an April 4 traffic stop Kirby Adair Taylor, 20, was charged with driving while impaired and William Carter Richardson, 18, was charged with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, schedule VI, at 5199 U.S. 601/Cauble Road.
- Deputies responded April 4 to the ABC store on Jake Alexander Blvd. after a call about drug activity where George Daniel Hunt, 20, was charged with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, schedule VI, at 1401 S. Jake Alexander Blvd. and Kristin Joy Lester, 28, was charged with driving while impaired.
- Mary Elizabeth Ballance reported an April 4 larceny from 761 Miller Road, China Grove.
- Lloyd Raymond Pope, 40, was charged with driving while impaired at 71498 S. Interstate 85/Peeler Road after he was stopped for speeding.
- Tuan Anh Nguyen reported on April 4 that sometime between March 28 and March 29 someone stole more than $5,000 worth of cell phones belonging to him from the Webb Road flea market at 905 Webb Road.
- West Rowan High School reported on April 4 someone vandalized windows and doors at 8050 N.C. 801, Mount Ulla.
- Melvin Lee McAlister reported on April 4 someone broke into Millbridge Speedway and removed a go-cart, helmet, electric starter, air compressor and tools at 6604 Mooresville Road.
- Glenda Sue Freeman reported an April 4 break-in in progress where Andrew Preston Yates, 23, was found at the rear of the home and charged with felony breaking and entering a building at 1680 River Road, Richfield.
- Summy Tahir Khan, 44, was charged April 4 with misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon at 14780 U.S. 52, Gold Hill, after he was stopped for speeding and found to have a .380-caliber handgun and a 6-inch knife in his vehicle.
- Misty Dawn Hancock, 23, was charged April 5 with driving while impaired at 8050 N.C. 801, Mount Ulla.
- Charles Theodore Haas, 36, was charged on April 5 with misdemeanor assault on a female.
- Caleb Kennedy reported on April 5 someone entered his vehicle during the night or early morning and took his stereo at 221 Valentine Court.
- Michael Allen Thomas reported a vandalism on April 5 where some type of projectile struck his residence from an unknown area at 825 Harris Point.
- Brenda Paulette Bost reported on April 5 someone entered her vehicle and took items including a knife, change and a screwdriver at 142 Sportsman Drive.
- Scott Michael Hearyman, 25, was charged April 5 with being a fugitive from justice.
- Melanie Dawn Johnson, 27, was charged April 3 with felony larceny at 100 Roy Cline Road, Rockwell.
- Jonathan Allen Phillis, 17, was charged April 5 with misdemeanor simple assault at 108 Ethel Lane, China Grove.,
- Donald Lee Duff, 36, was charged April 5 with felony breaking and entering into cars at 140 Rockwood Drive.
