Fire victim in serious condition

A man injured in a house fire early Monday remains at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center for treatment of burns.

David Starnes, of 980 Geter Road, was in serious condition late Tuesday according to a spokesman for the hospital.

Starnes was injured while trying to put out a fire in the bathroom area of the house he shared with his mother-in-law Victoria Peek, his wife, Keisha, and their 14-month-old son.

The fire heavily damaged the interior of house and its contents.
