Education - North Hills Christian School receives $50,000 for financial aid, scholarships

North Hills Christian School recently received a gift of $50,000 for its financial aid assistance program and scholarships from Ministry Heritage Trust Fund.

Ministry Heritage Trust Fund, formerly North Hills Presbyterian Church, was affiliated with North Hills Christian School when the church was still active. The co-ed, nondenominational Christian day school is now independently operated.

"We are grateful for this generous donation from the trustees of North Hills Presbyterian Church and for the church's support over the years," said Matt Mitchell, head of the school. "We share a common vision to see the mission of this school continue for generations to come."

The mission of NHCS is to "equip hearts and minds of students to impact the world for Christ."

The school currently provides financial aid for 28 of its nearly 200 families and has increased its financial aid assistance program funding from $20,000 last year to $40,000 for the 2008-2009 school year.

"We want to continue to serve families who strongly desire a Christian education, but who cannot necessarily afford Christian education," Mitchell said. "We are broadening the criteria for families to qualify for financial aid at North Hills so that we can make the education available to families from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds.

Applicants must apply for enrollment and be accepted before applying for financial aid.
