Education: Richards earns doctor of theology degree

Jeffrey J. Richards of Salisbury received the doctor of theology degree from Philipps-University Marburg, Marburg, Germany, on Oct. 29. Marburg is the oldest Protestant university in the world, dating from 1527.

The requirements for the degree included several languages, residency, exams, writing and defending a dissertation, which he did on July 2, 2008.

Richards also has a Ph.D. from Drew University and a seminary degree from Dallas. His bachelor's degree is from Pfeiffer University.

Jeff and his wife, Debbie, have grown twin daughters, Emily and Lauren. He is pastor of New Covenant Church in Charlotte and teaches college and seminary students.
