The traffic pattern around Faith Elementary School will change today for all afternoon student pick-ups. Everyone picking up students after school must enter the area on School Street from the E. Third Street (Legion Club Road) side and begin to line up there.
The new addition to the process will be a second line of traffic along the same route so that there is a double pick-up line. Students will be loaded six at time in two lanes compared to four students at a time in the old manner.
Parents wishing to avoid some of the congestion should schedule their arrival time between 3:05 p.m. and 3:10 p.m. as the traffic will be moving and the line should be diminished.
Traffic will not be permitted to back up on School Street from Oak Street to E. Third Street in order to prevent private driveways from being blocked.
Area residents are asked to avoid the area from approximately 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. during school days as both intersections with School Street and E. Second Street will be closed along with School Street from E. Second Street to Oak Street.
Additional police officers, school personnel and volunteers will be on hand to assist the changes in the traffic patterns. Officers are urging everyone to be patient as everyone adjusts to this new process and authorities hope that this will also help speed up the process.
The traffic pattern for morning drop offs will remain the same.
