SALISBURY — Police say they are looking for the people involved in a lunchtime Monday shooting near Old West Innes and Institute streets, across from the Sonic Drive-in parking lot.

Officials said a woman who was getting lunch at the restaurant realized later that her vehicle had been shot.

The incident occurred about 1 p.m. in the roadway in front of KMD Construction, where witnesses say a black male on foot was seen running up to the car and firing. Witnesses said a white two-door Honda and a black Dodge Dart were involved, said Police Capt. Shelia Lingle.

Police said both vehicles were gone by the time officers arrived. Witnesses said people in both vehicles fired on each other.

The woman’s minivan was struck in a rear tire, with the bullet making a hole in the wheel well. She was not injured.

Officials say a young black male was seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, sweat shorts and white socks.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact the Salisbury Police Department at 704-638-5333 or Salisbury-Rowan Crime Stoppers at 866-639-5245.  Tips may also be submitted online at http://tips.salisburyrowancrimestoppers.org/.
