Catawba named among most innovative colleges

SALISBURY — Catawba was recently ranked one of the nation’s most innovative colleges by Best Degree Programs.

The ranking was created from a list of small schools based on total enrollment, their national and regional awards, flexibility in instruction and most importantly their ongoing commitment to innovation, Jamie Agamalian, manager of online communications for Best Degree Programs said in an e-mailed press release.

Catawba College, which was ranked 27th, is known for its 70 academic fields of study to choose from, including several pre-professional programs, Agamalian said.

“Some of the school’s unique offerings include Sustainable Business & Community Development, Sport Management, and Therapeutic Recreation. Students also have the option to work alongside professors to create their own individualized majors. Among its many awards and recognitions, Catawba College has been named one of the country’s most environmentally responsible colleges by Princeton Review,” the online ranking said.
