A man reported that he was assaulted while out walking early Saturday.

Bradford Bennett told police that at 1:30 a.m. Saturday he was walking near the intersection of West McCubbins Street and South Main Street when he heard someone behind him yell, “Yo, yo, yo!”

Bennett told police he turned around and saw three young African-American males running towards him. Bennett said that one of the men attempted to stab him with what appeared to be a pocket knife. Bennett said he grabbed the blade with his hand, and when the assailant pulled the knife back, it cut Bennett. Bennett told police at that point he ran away, and the men did not pursue him.

Bennett reported that the men were 16 to 17 years old and had short, medium and long dreadlocks. One was wearing a black shirt and one was wearing a multi-colored shirt.

Bennett was driven to the hospital by his girlfriend, where he was treated for a superficial laceration to his finger.
