Interim Salisbury police chief to be named later this week

An interim chief for the Salisbury Police Department will be named this week, city Communications Director Linda McElroy said.

McElroy said that a candidate for the position was currently being vetted, but declined to provide further details.

Police Chief Rory Collins, 46, announced his retirement Nov. 14. During Collins’ five years as police chief, the department underwent several periods of reorganization. Collins’ retirement is effective Thursday, Dec. 31.
