East Spencer man shot in the knee

EAST SPENCER — A man was left wounded after a shooting Tuesday night in East Spencer.

East Spencer Police responded to the 600 block of Pine Tree drive early Tuesday evening in reference to shots fired, Police Chief Sharon Hovis said.

According to the police report, a man says he got into a a physical fight with two men in a driveway on Pine Tree Drive. One of the men pulled out a gun and shot him, and the bullet grazed the man’s knee. The two fled on foot.

Police did not release the victim’s name, but say that he was transported to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center. The victim was unable to give any other identifying information on the men who shot him.

Police believe this is an isolated incident and is unrelated to the recent rash of shootings in Salisbury.
