School board to discuss proposed county budget Tuesday

Because of Memorial Day, the Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education rescheduled its monthly business meeting from Monday to Tuesday.

Board members will discuss the county’s proposed 2015-15 budget, as well as consider reappointing Dr. Dari Caldwell to the Rowan-Cabarrus Community College Board of Trustees. She is currently one of four trustees appointed by the school system and would serve a a 2015-2019 term.

The board will also continue discussions started at the beginning of the month concerning its administrative office building in East Spencer and the Kizer building in Salisbury.

The Town of Spencer has requested that the town be able to have the building when the school system vacates it to move into the new central office building.

Greatful Hearts Community Services has expressed interest in the Kizer building on Cottage Street in Salisbury.

The board will also discuss the VIF Splash immersive dual language learning program and bus license reimbursements.

The board will meet Tuesday at 5 p.m. in the Long Street Board Room, 110 S. Long Street in East Spencer.
