Woman passed out in car faces drug charges

A China Grove woman was arrested after she was found passed out in her car around 1:30 p.m. Friday.

Kristin Nicole Powers, 27, of the 100 block of Second Avenue in China Grove was charged with multiple misdemeanor drug charges, a weapons charge and a traffic violation.

According to the arrest report, Powers “was passed out behind the wheel” in a parking lot in the 5700 block of South Main Street in China Grove. She had “glassy eyes and admitted she had taken methadone.”

Powers was charged with simple possession of a Schedule III drug for having 30 milligrams of Oxycodone and simple possession of a Schedule IV drug for having three milligrams of Alzprazolam and 10 milligrams of Diazepam. She also had a Cobra .380 handgun in her vehicle and was charged with misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon. She was issued a traffic citation for driving while impaired.

Powers submitted to a blood drug test.

She was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center and was issued a $2,500 bond.

 

High bond set for Salisbury man

A Salisbury man is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center under an $80,000 bond.

Christopher Evans, 24, of the 500 block of McCubbins Street in Salisbury faces a number of charges from late April, including felony robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony assault with a dangerous weapon causing serious injury, multiple parole violations and a domestic assault.

On April 30, Evans stole $425 and half of a pound of marijuana from Gregory Lee Crawford and Matthew Alan Moore with a black semiautomatic pistol, threatening and endangering Crawford and Moore’s lives. His bond was set at $50,000 for that offense.

An additional $20,000 was added to his bond for habitual probation violation and $10,000 more was added for two charges of misdemeanor probation violation.

He was also charged with a domestic case of assault by pointing a gun.

 

China Grove man faces drug charges

Richard Sidney Murphy, III, 31, of the 2000 block of Shue Road in China Grove was charged with felony possession of heroin, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor possession of a Schedule III drug.

According to arrest reports, law enforcement officers found heroin, Soma, a cook spoon, scale, needles and a tourniquet in Murphy’s vehicle Saturday.

He’s being held in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $3,500 bond.
