Development continues at Corporate Center

Things are starting to come into shape for the new development at the Summit Corporate Center off Julian Road.

The building that will house the Agility Fuel Systems production facility is now standing on the 32-acre site where Choate Construction crews are working. The facility will have more than 200,000 square feet of space when finished.

Agility, a California-based company that makes natural-gas fuel systems for transport vehicles, is currently in the process of hiring 150 workers for the facility.

Not far away, the early stages of a building are being assembled at what will be the Shoppes At Summit at the corner of Julian Road and the entrance to the Corporate Center.

Plans call for Hobby Lobby and Dick’s Sporting Goods to be the anchor stores at the retail complex. Kirkland’s, a home decor store, Mattress Firm and a Salsarita’s Mexican restaurant are also included in a site brochure from the Charlotte-based firm marketing the site.

Space is available for more stores too, and land has been set aside for a second phase of the complex.

The complex is being developed by the Hutton Company of Tennessee, which was the developer behind the Belk and Wallace Commons expansion.
