Police serving a warrant in the 400 block of Chesapeake Drive walked away with an arrest, but not the one they were planning on.

Jerome Leroy Hosch, 31, was arrested when police knocked on his door to serve a warrant for another man.

“They could smell marijuana coming from him,” said Capt. Shelia Lingle.

Hosch let them in the house, and while the man they were looking for wasn’t there, they did find several burnt blunts in the ashtray and paraphernalia on the kitchen counter.

Police searched the house with a K-9 and found a bag with 3 grams of marijuana and a small bag with .1 grams of cocaine with a cigarette package in the trash.

Hosch was arrested and charged with one felony and one misdemeanor charge of simple possession of a controlled substance and one misdemeanor charge for possession of drug paraphernalia.

He is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $1,500 bond.
