Police investigators continue to look into the death of a motorcyclist involved in a two-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon.

Salisbury Police, Salisbury Fire Department and Rowan County EMS responded to 1085 Majolica Road at 2:35 p.m. regarding a vehicle crash with injuries.

Once on the scene, police found the motorcyclist, Charles Keith Freeman, 62, of Salisbury, who’d died at the scene. It is not clear if he was wearing a helmet. The driver of the vehicle, a Nissan Pathfinder, Michael Bryant Stewart, 52, of Salisbury was not injured.

Police said the Nissan was traveling north on Majolica Road and attempted to turn into a driveway on Majolica Road when he turned into the path of Freeman, who was traveling southbound.

Few details were provided and police have not said if charges will be filed.

It was just six months ago that Salisbury resident James “Jim” Henry Githens Jr., 47, was killed when his motorcycle was struck by a car turning in to the parking lot at Economy Inn on Bendix Drive. Githens had just left Tilley’s Harley-Davidson where he’d bought a part there.
