Speed trap set for Jake Alexander Boulevard
County law enforcement agencies will target speeders, aggressive driving and other moving violations on that thoroughfare from Wednesday through Friday.
The project is a result of a study, which showed 32 percent of all crashes in Salisbury last year occurred on or near Jake Alexander Boulevard. The study by the Salisbury Police Department showed that Jake Alexander Boulevard and its major intersections account for four of the five top spots for auto accidents.
Members of the Salisbury Police, the Rowan County Sheriff’s Department, the N.C. Department of Motor Vehicles and the N.C. Highway Patrol will target speeders and aggressive drivers as well as other moving violations.
Œfter this first project, scaled down versions will be conducted periodically throughout the year, said Salisbury Police Sgt. Sam Russell.
