The funeral will be Tuesday for Ruthanna Gotherman Davis, 82, Salisbury, who died Thursday (March 14, 2002)at Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation.
Born Dec. 14, 1919, in Clinton County, Ohio, Mrs. Davis was a daughter of the late John Elmer and Margerita Devoe Gotherman. She was educated in the Port William and Wilmington, Ohio, schools and at Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio.
A homemaker and substitute teacher, she was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Her husband, the Rev. Walter C. Davis Jr., died April 17, 1981.
Survivors include son Walter C. Davis III, Niantic, Conn.; daughters Barbara Ann Davis, Mishawaka, Ind., and Helen Davis Yoder, Pensacola, Fla.; brother John Elmer Gotherman Jr., Dublin, Ohio; sister Mary Bonecutter, Ohio; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services: Graveside, 2 p.m. Tuesday, St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Carl Sachtleben, pastor, St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Visitation: At the graveside after the service.

KANNAPOLIS — Ruth Medlin Hileman, 83, 2716 Brantley Road, died Saturday (March 16, 2002) at her home after a brief illness.
Born March 8, 1919, in Union County, Mrs. Hileman was a daughter of the late Yates and Lorena Medlin. She retired from Cannon Mills plant 1 sheet department after many years.
A member of Mount Zion United Church of Christ, China Grove, she was active in various phases of the church and with the Golden Agers.
Her husband, Earl B. Hileman, died Dec. 26, 1989.
Survivors include twin daughters Faye Griffin, Huntersville, and Kaye Shive, Kannapolis; sister Blanche McQuage, Matthews; brother Wade Medlin, Philadelphia, Pa.; three granddaughters; and seven great-grandsons.

DAVIDSON — Macie Stowe Ingle, 91, Shearer Road, a former Rowan County resident, died Saturday (March 16, 2002) at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center, Mooresville.
Born June 20, 1910, in Iredell County, Mrs. Ingle, a daughter of the late F.W. and Susie Hager Stowe, retired from Mooresville Mills.
She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, Mooresville, and the adult class. A former member of Rockwell Baptist Church, she was a Sunday school teacher, secretary of the Sunday school department and choir director.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Alexander Ingle; sons Leroy and Ronald Ingle; and four grandchildren.
Survivors include daughter Frances Ingle Benfield, Davidson; sons Frank and Larry Ingle, both of Davidson, Bill Ingle, Mooresville, and Thilbert Ingle, Mooresville; sister Cora Lee Thompson, Mooresville; 20 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Liberty Baptist Church, Mooresville, conducted by the Rev. Ralph Robinette, the Rev. Blain Keaton and the Rev. Dwayne Barber. Burial, Rockwell Baptist Church cemetery.

Paul Alexander Morris, 77, Salisbury, died Friday (March 15, 2002) at Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte.
Born Dec. 20, 1924, in Mecklenburg County, Mr. Morris, a son of the late William David and Olivette Almond Morris, was educated in the Rowan County schools.
In 1986, he retired after 35 years from N.C. Finishing Co. maintenance department. He was a Baptist and a member of the Textile Union.
His wife, Peggy Wooten Morris, died in 1985; a son, Joseph Morris, died in 1962; and a daughter, Peggy Ann Shinault, died in 1996.
Survivors include sons Robert Morris, Little Mountain, S.C., and Paul Alex Morris, Yadkinville; daughter Dovey Morris Smith, Salisbury; brother Winslow Morris, Salisbury; sister Johnsie Cook, Gold Hill; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services: None. The body will be cremated.

KANNAPOLIS — Lewis Paul Sherrill, 86, 2100 W. C St., died Saturday (March 16, 2002) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord, after two weeks of serious illness.
Born Jan. 11, 1916, in Iredell County, Mr. Sherrill was a son of the late Lonnie T and Mary Alda Freeze Sherrill. A salesman, he retired from Rawleigh Products after 50 years.
Survivors include wife Fannie Little Sherrill; sons Wayne Sherrill, Mooresville, Charles Sherrill, Kannapolis, and Jessie Lee Sherrill, Raleigh; brothers J.P. Sherrill, Statesville, Carl Sherrill, Jacksonville, Fla., and Everette Sherrill, Kannapolis; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Zeb Perry Young
The funeral will be Tuesday for Zeb Perry Young, 55, Salisbury, who died Saturday (March 16, 2002) at Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte.
Born July 19, 1946, in Rowan County, Mr. Young was a son of Vela Mae Miller Young, Salisbury, and the late Zeb Frank Young. He was a 1965 graduate of East Rowan High School and earned an associate degree in agriculture from North Carolina State University in 1967. He also received numerous certifications in electronics and computers.
In 2001, he retired due to health reasons from the Rowan-Salisbury Schools. He was an audio-visual computer technician. He was a member of Organ Lutheran Church.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include wife Carolyn Trexler Young, whom he married Feb. 3, 1979; son Clayton Joe Young, Shelby; and sister Gail McBride, Fort Myers, Fla.
