Anna Jackson Bailey, 81, Germantown, Tenn., formerly of Salisbury, died Thursday (March 14, 2002) at her home in Germantown, Tenn.
A registered nurse, she retired from W.G. “Bill”Hefner VA Medical Center, Salisbury.
She was a former member of St.John’s Lutheran Church and a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary in North Carolina.
Her husband, Henry Adams “Bill” Bailey, died Oct. 16, 1968.
Survivors include daughters Cindy Bailey Childress, Memphis, Tenn., and Annabelle Bailey Usher, Atlantic Beach, Fla.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

ROCKWELL — The funeral is today for Joyce Howard Earley, 67, 11320 Old Concord Road, who died Wednesday (March 13, 2002) at Caremoor Retirement Center, Kannapolis.
Born July 31, 1934, in Iredell County, Mrs. Earley, a daughter of the late Fred Lee and Mildred Proctor Howard, retired from Fieldcrest Cannon Plant 1 weave room.
She was a member of Blackwelder Park Baptist Church, where she taught the Ruth Sunday School Class and served in many other capacities.
Her husband, Billy Guy “Bill” Earley, died Oct. 3, 1998.
Survivors include sisters Kay Howard Smith and Peggy Howard Rudd, both of Mooresville.

KANNAPOLIS — Mike Brown Hileman, 78, 4820 Lake Fisher Road, died Wednesday (March 13, 2002) at his home.
Born Dec. 2, 1923, in Cabarrus County, Mr. Hileman was a son of the late John Franklin and Mamie Propst
Hileman. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
In 1988, he retired from Cannon Mills Co. Plant 1, towel cutting department after 48 years. He was a member of New Gilead United Church of Christ, Concord, where he was actively involved in Boy Scout Troop 59 and was a deacon and chief usher.
Survivors include wife of 56 years Elvia Rollins Hileman; daughters Judy McClendon and Cathy
Brumley, both of Kannapolis; son Randy Hileman, Kannapolis; and three grandchildren.

Zena Elizabeth Stirewalt Kesler, 79, Salisbury, died Thursday (March 14, 2002) at her home.
Born Nov. 20, 1922, in Rowan County, Mrs. Kesler, a daughter of the late Harvey Leonard and Florence Weaver
Stirewalt, was educated at Parks School.
Formerly employed with Cannon Mills and Leisure Lads, she was a member of Union Lutheran Church and the Catherine Mahaley Sunday School Class.
Survivors include husband Carl Frick Kesler, whom she married Sept. 29, 1945; son
R.C. Kesler, Salisbury; daughters Myra K. Seegers, Salisbury, and Sylvia K.

LINWOOD — Telly “T-Mac” Lamonte McDowell, 26, 796 Belmont Road, died Monday (March 11, 2002) at his home.
Born Dec. 14, 1975, in Rowan County, Mr. McDowell was a son of Walter and Barbara Hargrave McDowell, of the home. He graduated from Central Davidson High School in 1996.
A junior trustee at Old Smith Grove View Baptist Church, he was self-employed in drywall and stucco construction.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include fiancee Mary Athena Davis, Lexington; brothers Walter McDowell Jr., Salisbury, and Charles Sanders, Spencer; and sisters Stefanie McDowell, Linwood, Mary Ann McDowell, Salisbury, and Martha McDowell, Chester, Pa.
