Charles Lane Conrad
The funeral was this morning for Charles Lane Conrad, 51, Salisbury, who died Monday (March 11, 2002) at Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation.
Born Feb. 7, 1951, in Cabell County, W.Va., Mr. Conrad was a son of the late Mary Henry Conrad Gillespie and John Conrad. Educated in the Milton, W.Va., schools, he owned and operated an escort service and was a pilot car driver. He was a member of Rowan Christian Assembly.
Survivors include stepmother Sandra Kay Thompson, Fort Meade, Md.; sons Charles Lane Conrad Jr., Eddyville, Ky., and Zachary Lane, Salisbury; daughters Megan Conrad, Winchester, Ky., and Tara Kay and Jessica Ellen, both of Salisbury; brothers John Conrad, Salisbury, and Chris and Chad Conrad, both of Milton, Va.; sister Catherine Conrad Wallace, Hurricane, W.Va.; and three grandchildren.
Services: Services were held this morning at Rowan Christian Assembly, conducted by the Rev. Mark Jones. The body will be cremated.

Earl Franklin Dishmon
CHINA GROVE — The funeral will be Friday for Earl Franklin Dishmon, 68, 165 Providence Road, who died Tuesday (March 12, 2002) at his home.
Born July 1, 1933, in Ashe County, Mr. Dishmon was a son of the late Charles Andrew and Dorothy Collins
Dishmon.
Educated in the Ashe County schools, he was a spinning doffer at Linn-Corriher Mills, Landis. He was a member of Corriher Heights Baptist Church.
Survivors include wife Mary Giles Dishmon; sons Tommy Dishmon, China Grove, and Danny
Dishmon, Kannapolis; daughters Dorothy Stirewalt, Rockwell, Vickie Lambert, Kannapolis, Janice Smith, China Grove, and Judy Allen, Concord; brother Gail
Dishmon, Jefferson; sisters Mary Jo and Clara Severt, both of Jefferson; half-sisters Myrtle Black, China Grove, and Myrtle Lambert and Faye Burgess, both of Jefferson; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Cecil Emory Dye
Cecil Emory Dye, 81, of Salisbury, died Tuesday (March 12, 2002) at Rowan Regional Medical Center after a period of declining health.
Born April 19, 1920, in Charleston, W.Va., Mr. Dye was a son of the late Emory M. and Nettie Cummings Dye. He was educated in the Charleston, W.Va., schools.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in World War II.
He retired from Union-Carbide after 32 years. Mr. Dye was a member of St. Albans Church of the Nazarene, St. Albans, W.Va., and the Disabled American Veterans.
He was preceded in death by a son, Cecil Lee Dye.
Survivors include his wife Marie Facemyer Dye, whom he married April 25, 1943; son Charles V. Dye, Colorado Springs, W.Va.; daughter Cecilia Rogers, Salisbury; brother Norvell Dye, Charleston, W.Va.; three grandchildren; three
stepgrandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one step-great-grandchild.

Arlene Harrison Hampton, 69, Salisbury, died Wednesday (March 13, 2002) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.
Born July 12, 1932, in Ragley, La., Mrs. Hampton was a daughter of the late James D. and Myrtle Eddleman Harrison. She was educated in the
Ragley, La., schools.
A member of Calvary Baptist Tabernacle, she retired from Super Service Cleaner after 20 years.
Her first husband, Milton Max Perego, died August 1960.
Survivors include husband Harold Hampton, whom she married June 19, 1966; daughters Charlene Garmon and Bonnie Morton, both of Granite Quarry, and Darlene Locklear and Maxine Branch, both of Salisbury; stepsons Larry Hampton, China Grove, and Perry Hampton, Rockwell; stepdaughters Debra Rufty and Christine
Litaker, both of Kannapolis; sister Maeola Clark, Longville, La.; 18 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

COOLEEMEE — Elsie Marie Cook Hodgson, 88, N.C. Highway 801, died Thursday (March 14, 2002) at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem.
Born March 11, 1915, in Yadkin County, Mrs. Hodgson was a daughter of the late William L. and Matilda Shore Cook. She was a Sunday school teacher and member of Cooleemee First Baptist Church.
Her husband, Vander R. Hodgson, died in 1969.
Survivors include son Keith Hodgson of the home.
