Kate Melton Barney

ADVANCE — Kate Mae Melton Barney, 77, formerly of Cornatzer Road, mother of Douglas Barney, Mocksville, died Monday (March 11, 2002) at Meadowbrook of Clemmons.

Services: 11 a.m., Thursday, Eaton Funeral Home chapel, Mocksville. Burial, Bixby Presbyterian Church cemetery.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Memorials: Bixby Presbyterian Church, 1806 Fork Bixby Road, Advance, NC 27006; or Alzheimers Association, Western Carolina Chapter, 3800 Shamrock Drive, 999, Charlotte, NC 28215-3220.

 

Earl Dishmon

CHINA GROVE — Earl Dishmon, 165 Providence St., died Tuesday (March 12, 2002).

Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, Landis, is in charge.

 

Betty Fritts Gregory

LEXINGTON — Betty Mae Fritts Gregory, 68, Lexington, died Monday (March 11, 2002).

Services: Graveside, 10 a.m. Thursday, Forest Hill Memorial Park.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight, Piedmont Funeral Home.

 

Arlene H. Hampton

Arlene Harrison Hampton, 69, Salisbury, died Wednesday (March 13, 2002) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Summersett Funeral Home is in charge.

 

Charlie D. Menster

SPENCER — The funeral will be Thursday for Charlie Dawson Menster, 86, Spencer, who died Monday (March 11, 2002) at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.

Born April 11, 1915, in Iredell County, Mr. Menster was a son of the late Charlie Marvin and Sally Mesimer Menster. He was educated in the Rowan County schools.

Retired from North Carolina Finishing Co. after 39 years, he was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church and Spencer Moose Lodge 2019.

His wife, Ruby Lee Veach Menster, died Oct. 28, 2000.

Survivors include sons Charlie Lee and James Terry Menster, both of Salisbury; daughter Carol Pepper, Spencer; sister Sara Propst, Salisbury; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m., Thursday, Oakdale Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Richard Gross. Burial, family plot in church cemetery.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight, Lyerly Funeral Home, Salisbury.At other times, the family will be at their respective homes.

Memorials: Oakdale Baptist Church, 200 Charles St., Spencer, NC 28159.

 

Blanche Jean Severt

CONCORD — Blanche Jean Severt, 81, 1025 Pine Circle Drive N.W., died Tuesday (March 12, 2002) at her home.

Whitley’s Funeral Home, Kannapolis, is in charge.

 

Sheila Duty Starnes

CONCORD — Sheila Marie Duty Starnes, 36, 5121 Navion Place, died Monday (March 11, 2002) at NorthEast Medical Center.

Services: 2 p.m., Thursday, Eastside Baptist Church. Burial, West Concord Cemetery.

Visitation: 6:30-8:30 tonight, Hartsell Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home on Navion Place.
