Hill’s Minnow Farm, on the Bringle Ferry Road, will sponsor two crappie tournaments in 2002 on High Rock Lake.
“Both tournaments are geared towards the family fisherman,” said Terry Hill.
The Crappie RoundUp Tournament starts March 16 and goes through May 3, paying off the 10 biggest fish caught each week.
The entry fee is $6 a person for the entire seven weeks, and the weekly first-place winner gets $200 cash. The next nine win cash, merchandise prizes and gift certificates.
This year, the biggest fish overall will receive an additional bonus of a $300 gift certificate from PMS Firearms. Rules are posted at Hill’s.
The other tournament, dubbed Big Crappie Weekend, is a two-day contest set for April 27 and 28 exclusively on High Rock Lake.
“This is an individual tournament that costs $20 per person. Fishermen are allowed a limit of two rods per person. This gives even the bank fisherman a good chance at winning some cash,” Hill said. “The top 15 places will be paid off, with a guaranteed first place prize of $1,000.”
The tournament starts at 6 a.m. April 27 and continues until 3 p.m. April 28. The $20 entry fee also includes a free ticket for the Crappie RoundUp Tournament.
