Georgia Knight
THOMASVILLE —Georgia Lee Whitley Knight, 91, 306 Barnwell St., formerly of 822 Knight St., China Grove, died Sunday (March 3, 2002) at Liberty Wood Nursing Center.
Born Sept. 9, 1910, in Stanly County, Mrs. Knight was a daughter of the late John Robert and Elizabeth Talbert Whitley. She was a homemaker and a member of South China Grove Baptist Church.
A son, James Ernest “J.E.” Knight, preceded her in death.
Survivors include husband Howard James Knight, whom she married May 23, 1931; daughter Mary Mills, of the home; sister Geneva Griffin, Thomasville; brother John Lester “Bill” Whitley, Thomasville; and one granddaughter; and three great-grandsons.
Services: Graveside, 3 pm. Tuesday, Westlawn Memorial Park, China Grove, conducted by the Rev. Derald Adams.
Visitation: 7-9 tonight, J.C. Green &Sons Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home on Barnwell Street.

Irene Gregory Link
MOORESVILLE — Irene Gregory Link, 86, formerly of 1825 Deal Road, died Saturday (March 2, 2002) at Big Elm Nursing Center, Kannapolis.
Born Jan. 17, 1916, in Iredell County, Mrs. Link was a daughter of the late John Warren Gregory and Mary Josephine Gregory Riddle.
A homemaker, she was employed for many years with CannonMills Co., Plant 1 weave room. She was a member of New Testament Independent Baptist Church, Kannapolis.
She was preceded in death by sons Foy Lee Link and Harold Walter Link.
Survivors include husband Harold L. Link; daughter Margie Wike, China Grove; one brother; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Services: 4 p.m., Tuesday, New Testament Independent Baptist Church, Kannapolis, conducted by the Rev. Bobby
Utley. The body will be placed in the church at 3:30. Burial, church cemetery.

Gonnie M. Morris
The funeral will be Tuesday for Gonnie Matthew Morris, 79, 285 EnglishSt., who died Saturday (March 2, 2002) at Genesis Eldercare of Salisbury after a month of declining health.
Born July 10, 1922, in Richfield, Mr. Morris, a son of the late William David and Olivette “Ollie” Allman Morris, was educated in the Stanly County schools.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during World War II and received three Bronze Service Stars, a Purple Heart and the Good Conduct Medal.
In 1986, he retired fromCarter Chairs. He was a Baptist.
A son, David Morris, died Nov. 17, 1949; daughter Brenda Morris, died Dec. 2, 1963; and daughter Tammy Rena Morris died Aug. 23, 1969.
Survivors include wife Willie Mae Cooper Morris, whom he married Dec. 25, 1944; sons Larry Matthew, Randy Wayne and Michael Allen Morris, all of Salisbury, Harold Eugene Morris, Rockwell, and Johnny Lavon Morris, Richfield; daughter Kathy Morris Kendrick, Salisbury; brothers Paul and Winslow Morris, both of Salisbury; sister Johnsie Morris Cook,Gold Hill; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m., Tuesday, Summersett Funeral Home chapel, conducted by the Rev.
JimHall, East Rowan Church of God. Burial, Rowan Memorial Park. Military rites by Rowan County Veterans Council.
