Heres my opinion on liquor by the drink in Kannapolis — you could put it in a quart jar. That would about measure the amount of alcohol that I drink in a year. But Kannapolis does need growth. We are growing by leaps and bounds in the residential sector, but we are lagging far behind in the business sector. Educational facilities aren’t up to date in Kannapolis. And let’s talk about jobs.
The mill is only working half the time, and there are only a few mom and pop places and some retail stores. The retail stores can’t survive on a hit or miss economy, and they don’t pay enough for a good living.
I don’t like driving to Concord or Salisbury to eat dinner.
At the store I work in, sales are down 20 to 30 percent from this time last year. If LBD can bring in much needed tax dollars to help fix streets, build new businesses, build better schools and build Kannapolis into a more sound city, then I have to say I’ll take a chance.
I’m for it, and for the skeptics out there who say there will be more drunks on the road, I doubt that. Kannapolis city police do an outstanding job on that problem now, and in most cases a person won’t have to travel from the south end to the north end to buy their drink, so they’ll be on the road less. That’s just my opinion.
I’m for it, to build better jobs and schools and better roads. I hate potholes.
