As I read the Jan. 21 article in the Post about the antenna flags at Team Chevrolet, I tended to view Salisbury’s sign ordinance as an excellent example of frivolous and excessive regulation.
Your Jan. 22 editorial defending the same gave me reason to reconsider my view. You pointed out the dangers of unregulated flags and signs. Since it is the duty of public officials to protect the health and safety of citizens, it is understandable they would regulate such dangerous objects.
You can help everyone understand the need for this regulation if you would print in your paper how many people have been injured or killed by these things this past year. Also, provide projections as to how many people will be saved from injury or death in the coming year. A listing of the reduction of property damage and the lower insurance rates that will occur as a result would be helpful. Salisbury and you could do a great public service if you could provide a map detailing the most dangerous routes in order for those of us outside the city to choose the safest route to travel when we need to come to Salisbury.
Thank you for helping me to better understand
