KANNAPOLIS — Dovie Louise Poe Barker, 76, 605 E. 22nd St., died Sunday (Jan. 27, 2002) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord, after several years of declining health and a week of serious illness.
Born May 11, 1926, in Smyth County, Va., Mrs. Barker was a daughter of the late Mack and Fannie Bare Poe. She was educated in the Ashe County schools.
Survivors include daughters Shearon Barker Campbell, Christiansburg, Va., and Pamila
Walden,Kannapolis; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services: Graveside, 2 p.m. Wednesday, Big Ridge Cemetery, West Jefferson.

CONCORD — The funeral is today for Margaret Rose Barrier Cartrette, 65, 4191 Barrier Road, a resident of Brian Center, who died Saturday (Jan. 26, 2002).

The funeral will be Wednesday for Theresa Kester Eagle, 88, Salisbury, who died Sunday (Jan. 27, 2002) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.
Born Sept. 12, 1913, in Rowan County, Mrs. Eagle, a daughter of the late Solie F. and Beulah Walton
Kester, was educated in the Rowan County schools.
A homemaker, she had worked at Carolina Maid. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Women’s Missionary Union.
Her husband, Clyde Morris Eagle, died June 17, 1984.
Survivors include son George M. Eagle, Meridian, Miss.; brother L.C. Kester, Radford, Va.; sister Gracie
Swicegood, Salisbury; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

KANNAPOLIS — Larry Wayne Gibson, 54, 2412 Woodsdale Drive, died Sunday (Jan. 27, 2002) after a period of declining health.
Born Dec. 13, 1947, in Cabarrus County, Mr. Gibson was a son of Vera Sutton Gibson, Kannapolis, and the late Paul N. Gibson. He was a disabled veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
In earlier years, he owned and operated Gibson Construction Co.
A daughter, Patricia D. Gibson, preceded him in death.

Born April 28, 1928, in Rowan County, Mrs. Holbrooks was a daughter of Alma Hess Caster, Faith, and the late Glenn Caster. Educated in Rowan County, she was formerly employed by Carter Chair and Carolina Maid.
A member of Faith Lutheran Church, she was in the Yount Circle and treasurer of the Mae Trexler Sunday School Class. She was also a member of Faith American Legion Auxiliary.
