The funeral will be Tuesday for Etta Louise Karriker Bass, 78, Salisbury, who died Saturday (Jan. 26, 2002) at her home.
Born June 29, 1923, in Rowan County, Mrs. Bass was a daughter of the late Carl W. and Etta Bost
Karriker. She was educated in the Faith and Granite Quarry schools and a graduate of Granite Quarry High School and SalisburyBusiness College.
A member and church librarian at Calvary Baptist Church, she was a member of the Mary Martha Sunday school class and the choir, and chairperson of
WMU.
Survivors include brother Boyce W. Karriker, Pensacola, Fla., and Jack
M.Karriker, Hutchinson, Kan.; and sisters Neta K. Holshouser, Salisbury, and Elsie K. Lyles, Charlotte.
Services: 2 p.m Tuesday, Calvary Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Rick Cockerham, pastor, and the Rev. Bobby
V.Seagroves, interim pastor, Franklin Baptist Church. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30. Burial, Concordia Lutheran Church cemetery, China Grove.

Margaret B. Cartrette
CONCORD — The funeral will be Tuesday for Margaret Rose Barrier Cartrette, 65, a resident ofBrian Center, formerly of 4191 Barrier Road, who died Saturday (Jan. 26, 2002) at NorthEast Medical Center after a period of declining health.
Born Sept. 28, 1936, in Cabarrus County, Mrs. Cartrette was a daughter of the late George William and Virgie Drye Barrier. She was a homemaker.
Her husband, Billy Bright Cartrette, preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters Robin Drye, Rockwell, and Melodie K. Johnson, Newland; stepdaughter Dianne Blackburn, Loris, S.C.; stepsons Terry
Cartrette, Loris, S.C., and Michael Cartrette, Kannapolis; sisters Mildred Smith and Belle Cline, both of Kannapolis, Mae Bost and Nell Moose, both of Rockwell, and Naomi Belk and Mary Frances Wise, both of Concord; brothers John and Martin Barrier, both of Concord; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

Born June 28, 1959, in Iredell County, Mr. Story was a son of Lloyd and Patsy Brown Story, Salisbury. He was educated in the Rowan County schools.
A carpenter, he was employed by Sunshine Manufacturing Structures. He was a member of Rock Grove United Methodist Church, Salisbury.

CLEVELAND — Lewis A. Taylor, 88, 4585 Chenault Road, died Sunday (Jan. 27, 2002, at his home.
Born March 12, 1913, in Rutherford County, Mr. Taylor was a son of the late Henry Clay and Neno Lail Taylor.
He was a member of Cleveland First Baptist Church. Retired fromKoSa, he enjoyed raising donkeys.
Survivors include wife Rae Stroupe Taylor, whom he married June 23, 1934; daughters Carolyn T. Davis, Trussville, Ala., and Joanne T. Redman and Kay T. Cohen, Cleveland; brother Harvey C. Taylor, Pleasant Hills, Pa.; sisters Ruth T. Hoyle, Valdese, and Mae T. Abernathy and Nell T.
