KANNAPOLIS — Steven Wayne Hancock, 35, 8810 Dogwood Drive, died Monday (Jan. 14, 2002).
Born Jan. 24, 1966, in Iredell County, Mr. Hancock was a son of Robert M. “Mickey” and Margie Faye Gulledge Hancock of Kannapolis. He attended South Rowan High School, China Grove.
He was employed with several sprinkler and construction companies for many years and worked as an auto mechanic in his spare time. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include fiancee Caroline Goodnight, Kannapolis; brother Darrell Eugene Hancock, Kannapolis; and paternal grandmother Grace Hancock.

Janie M. Litaker
KANNAPOLIS — The funeral will be Wednesday for Janie McClurd Litaker, 100, formerly of Tuckaseegee Road, who died Saturday (Jan. 12, 2002) at Transitional Health Services.
Born April 13, 1901, in Grassy Creek, Mrs. Litaker was a daughter of the late William R. and Nellie Bryant McClurd. An area resident for 80 years, she retired from the spinning room at Cannon Mills plant four.
She was a member of Bethpage Presbyterian Church, the Women of the Church, Mary and Martha Circle and the Upper Room Sunday school class.
Her husband, William Clyde Litaker, died May 11, 1987. She was also preceded in death by two granddaughters.
Survivors include daughters Margie Allison, Concord, and Ruby L. Weiss, Kentucky; sons William C. Litaker Jr., Hollywood, S.C., and Harry D. Litaker, Kannapolis; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Born March 1, 1932, in Salisbury, Mr.Parker, a son of the late Emanuel Oscar and Mabel Hannah Parker, was a graduate of Dunbar High School, East Spencer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and Navy.
A member of New Hope AMEZion Church, he retired from Home Oil and Concrete Co.,Salisbury.

MOCKSVILLE — The funeral will be Wednesday for Margaret Bowles Sain, 94, Bethel Church Road, who died Sunday (Jan. 13, 2002) at her home.
Born July 24, 1907, in Davie County, Mrs. Sain was a daughter of the late Henry and Eliza Jane Binkley Bowles. She retired from the County of Davie after 31 years and was a life member of BethelUnited Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Sain; a son, Leonard Sain; and a grandson.
Survivors include son Cecil Sain, Mocksville; daughters Mary Sparks and Ora Mae Miller, both of Mocksville; 17 other grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

LEXINGTON — Joyce Honeycutt Sechrest, 70, 110 Oak Ave., died Sunday (Jan. 13, 2002) at Lexington Memorial Hospital after a year of declining health.
Born Oct. 27, 1931, Mrs. Sechrest was a daughter of the late James Leroy and Myrtle Lee Sparks Honeycutt. She retired from PPG.
A son, Terry Sechrest, died Dec. 28, 2001.

The funeral will be Wednesday for Harold Clinton Stoner, 70, Salisbury, who died Monday (Jan. 14, 2002) at Rowan Regional Medical Center after an illness of six months.
Born Feb. 17, 1931, in Rowan County, Mr. Stoner was a son of the late John David and Anna Kesler Stoner. He was educated at Rockwell High School.
Retired from Cartex Mills, Salisbury, he was a member of East Corinth Baptist Church, Gold Hill.
Survivors include wife Hazel Barringer Stoner; sons Harold Clinton Stoner Jr., Gold Hill, and Marshall Lee Stoner, of the home; daughter Frances Marie Martin, Salisbury; brother Ned Stoner, Salisbury; sisters Daisy S. MOCKSVILLE — The funeral will be Wednesday for Marvin Hendersen “Pete” Wagner, 76, Deadmon Road, who died Sunday (Jan. 13, 2002) at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem.
Born Dec. 16, 1925, in Davie County, Mr. Wagner was a son of the late James Savanah and Stella B. Wofford Wagner. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army.
He retired from Celenese Corp., now KoSa.

Cornelia “Connie” Thompson Welch White, 79, Salisbury, formerly of Charlotte, died Sunday (Jan. 13, 2002) at her home.
Born Feb. 25, 1922, in Winston-Salem, Mrs. White was a daughter of the late Sherman DeWitt and Verlie Maye Westmoreland Thompson. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Salisbury, and a former member of Providence United Methodist Church, Charlotte.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clyde Welch, and by her second husband, Dr. Charles D. White.
