Ola D. Caldwell
The funeral will be Tuesday for Ola Deese Caldwell, 69, Genesis ElderCare, who died Saturday (Jan. 5, 2002) at the nursing center.
Born Feb. 19, 1932, in Stanly County, Mrs. Caldwell was a daughter of the late Burl David and Margaret James Deese. She was educated in the Mecklenburg County schools.
A Baptist, in earlier years, she was employed in the textile industry and as a caterer with Delta Air Lines.
Her husband, Fred L. Caldwell, died in 2000. A grandchild also preceded her in death.
Survivors include son Timothy L. Caldwell, Charlotte; daughters Opal C. Winfrey, Linda Hudson, Ellen Godwin, and Joyce Bennett, all of Charlotte; brother Tom Deese, Salisbury; sisters Sadie D. Lewis and Emma D. Randall, both of Salisbury; and seven other grandchildren.
Services:2 p.m. Tuesday, Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, China Grove, conducted by the Rev. Bruce Graham. Burial, Sharon Memorial Park, Charlotte.

Leonard O. Collette
MOCKSVILLE — The funeral is today for Leonard Odell Collette, 74, Yadkinville Road, who died Saturday (Jan. 5, 2002) at his home.
Born July 3, 1927, in Davie County, Mr. Collette was a son of the late J.C. and Ina Mae Dixon Collette. He was a Baptist.
A lumberman, he operated a sawmill. He did picture framing after he retired.
Survivors include wife Nancy Riddle Collette; son William Leonard Collette,Mocksville; twin daughters Nancey Collette-Parsell and Katie Elizabeth Collette, both of Mocksville; sisters Frances C. Dunn and Janie C. Donaldson, both of Winston-Salem; and one grandson.

CANDOR — Robert Earl Frye, 85, 105 Norman Drive, formerly of Albemarle, died Saturday (Jan. 5, 2002) at Autumn Care of Biscoe.

Edna Glosson
Edna Kennington Glosson, 91, died Saturday (Jan. 5, 2002).
Born June 12, 1910, in Lancaster, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Rev. Roach HazelKennington and Leila Todd Kennington. A graduate of Lowell High School, she received a bachelor of arts degree from Catawba College and a master’s degree in education from Appalachian State University.
She was an educator in the Kannapolis City and Mecklenburg County school systems for over 32 years, serving at various times as teacher, guidance counselor and principal.
She was a life member of the Women’s Society of Christian Service at Trinity United Methodist Church, Kannapolis, president of the Clarice Women’s Club and superintendent of Sunday school for 15 years.
A president of the local chapter of the Red Cross, she was founder and president of the Young at Heart Senior Citizens Group at Dulin’s Grove Christian Advent Church. She led a drive to form a children’s summer playground program at Clear Creek School, soliciting the governor’s backing to ensure the program’s establishment.
She represented Mecklenburg County at the Mother of the Year Awards held in Raleigh and was president of the E.H. Club in Mecklenburg County for 10 years. She was also president of the local teachers’ NCAE group.
Her husband of 56 years, Charlie William Glosson, died in 1996.
Survivors include daughter Martha Glosson Howard, Charlotte; son Ronald Kennington Glosson, Barrington, R.I.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday, Carolina Memorial Gardens chapel, Concord. Entombment in the mausoleum.
Visitation: 12-1 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel.

Faynell ‘Faye’ Griggs
KANNAPOLIS — Faynell “Faye” Grayson Griggs, Kannapolis, died Sunday (Jan. 5, 2002) at her home.
A native of Kannapolis, Mrs. Griggs was a daughter of the late X.E. and Lina Dwiggins Grayson. She graduated from J.W. Cannon High School in 1942 and later began work as a time keeper in No. 7 weave room at Cannon Mills. Later, she was secretary to the director of the cost department for 15 years. After rearing her children, she returned to work as a hostess and tour guide at Cannon Village Visitor Center.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she taught the junior high Sunday school class and was president of Ruth Kale Sunday school class. For 34 years, she worked in the kindergarten Sunday school class. She was co-chair of the pictorial directory committee and served on the finance and worship committees and on the administrative board.
She helped create needlepoint kneelers and Chrismons for her church and was a Cub Scout den mother at Kimball Lutheran Church.
Survivors include husband of 48 years George William Griggs; sons George William “Bill”Griggs Jr., Matthews, and Eugene “Gene” Steven Griggs, Charlotte; sisters Dot Caton, B.J. Kincaid and Phyllis Watson, all of Kannapolis; and four grandchildren.
Services: 3 p.m. Tuesday, Trinity United Methodist Church, conducted by Sarah G. Weaver and the Rev. Don Shuman. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.
Visitation: 1-2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the church parlor.

CHINA GROVE — Mary Mullis Honeycutt, 84, 212 W. Church St., died Sunday (Jan. 6, 2002) at Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Salisbury.
Born Jan. 29, 1917, in Rowan County, Mrs. Honeycutt was a daughter of the late Marshall James and Minnie Troutman Mullis. Twenty years ago, she retired from Cannon Mills plant 1 No. 2 spinning room, Kannapolis, after 45 years.
She attended Kannapolis West A Church of God. Earlier, she attended Independence Square Freewill Baptist Church, where her late husband, the Rev. J.C. Honeycutt, served as pastor.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Eugene James Fritz; her second husband, the Rev. John C. Honeycutt; a daughter, Hazel Fritz Helms; and a grandson.
Survivors include other daughters Evelene F. Woodard and Betty F. Wilson, both of Kannapolis, and Dorothy F. Thomas, China Grove; son Floyd D. Fritz, Aberdeen; sister Ruth James,Landis; 10 other grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
