Homer Benard Bost
KANNAPOLIS — The funeral will be Friday for Homer Benard Bost, 84, Kannapolis, who died Tuesday (Feb. 26, 2002) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.
Born Feb. 25, 1918, in Rowan County, Mr. Bost was a son of the late Floyd Allen and Bessie Karriker Bost. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
Retired from Cannon Mills after 50 years, he worked at plant 1 and plant 6. He also owned and operated a mechanic garage for many years.
He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, China Grove. Also a member of Allen-Graham Masonic Lodge 695 and Scottish Rite Bodies of Charlotte, he received 50-year certificates from both organizations.
Survivors include wife Minnie Barbee Bost; brothers Raymond Bost, Florida, and Thedia and Perry Bost, both of Kannapolis; and sisters Zelda Measimer and Marie Winecoff, both of Mooresville, and Vera Corriher, Kannapolis.

James M. Chandler
BADIN — James Maurice Chandler, 37, 416 Sherman St., Badin, died Wednesday (Feb. 27, 2002) at the home of his parents, Dorsey Chandler Jr. and Sybil Huntley Chandler.
Born May 21, 1964, in Kings County, Mr. Chandler was a 1983 graduate of North Stanly High School, New London. He was a former office manager at Kiko’s in Charlotte.
A member of First Baptist Church, he attended Salem Ministries, Charlotte. He was baptized at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, Brooklyn, N.Y.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include brothers Marcelle Huntley, Charlotte, and Dexter Chandler, Nova, Ohio; and sisters Claudia Chandler,Atlanta, Ga., Barbara Apperwhite and Katerine Peoples, both of Badin, Anita Butler, New London, and Annette Grayer, Fayetteville.
Services: 2:30 p.m. Saturday, First Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Harvey Marsh. Burial, Oak View Cemetery, New London.
Visitation: 2 p.m. Saturday at the church. At other times the family will be at his parent’s home, 706 Sherman St., Badin.

‘Dick’ Curtindale
The funeral will be Friday for Richard Meldrin “Dick” Curtindale, 65, 365 Baymount Drive, who died Friday (Feb. 22, 2002) in Monterrey, Mexico.
Born Jan. 29, 1937, in Harbor Beach,Mich., Mr. Curtindale was a son of Opal Joyce Conquergood Curtindale, Harbor Beach, Mich., and the late Meldrin Curtindale. He was educated in the Harbor Beach, Mich., schools.
Vice president/director of manufacturing of tool and dye manufacturing with Lane Punch, he was with the company since 1968. He was a Methodist.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include wife Darlie Anderson Curtindale, whom he married Aug. 25, 1956; son Robert Curtindale, Madison,Ohio; daughter Karen C. Kolin, Dearborn, Mich.; brother Wallace Curtindale, Tioga, Pa.; sister Joan C. Soldate, Connecticut; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Joseph H. Green
DURHAM — Joseph H. Green, 91, 1412 N. Mangum St., formerly a Salisbury resident, died Tuesday (Feb. 26, 2002) at Durham Regional Medical Center.
Born in Rock Hill, S.C., Mr. Green was a son of the late Thomas H. and Julia Downs Green. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
Retired after 30 years from Exxon, he was a plant manager in several states. He resided at Myrtle Beach, S.C., until he moved to Durham in 1986. In Durham, he attended Grace Baptist Church and was a was a member of Anderson Bible class. When at his home at Myrtle Beach, he attended Timberlake Baptist Church in Surfside Beach, S.C.
He was a member of Murrells Inlet Masonic Lodge 368 A.F.M.
After the death of his wife of 50 years, Frances YorkGreen, he married Beverly Tyndall, who died on May 16, 1994.

Paul Lee Greene
NEW LONDON — Paul Lee Greene, 75, 189 Sixth Ave., died Tuesday (Feb. 26, 2002) at his home.
Born Feb. 28, 1926, in Stanly County, Mr. Greene was a son of the late Silas Henry and Lula Cordelia Huneycutt Greene. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
Retired from Alcoa, he was a crane operator. He was a member of Mountain Creek Primitive Baptist Church, Albemarle, American Legion Post 1981 and Albemarle-Stanly County DAV.
Survivors include wife Gladys Carolyn Conyers Greene; stepdaughter Deborah Melaragno, Charlotte, and Janet Gardner, Angier; brothers Olan Greene, Stanfield, and Melvin Greene, Troutman; and three step-grandsons.

Daisy P. Gudger
A private memorial service will be held at a later date for Daisy Patterson Gudger, 59, 1403 S. Fulton St., who died Wednesday (Feb. 27, 2002) at Duke University Medical Center, Durham.
Born Feb. 17, 1943, in Merced, Ga., Mrs. Gudger was a daughter of the late Alfred Segul and Fannie Martin Patterson.
She was last employed by the Department of Corrections. For 15 years, she was a certified nursing assistant at Hefner VA Medical Center.
Survivors include husband Hardy R. Gudger; sons Johnny L. and Timothy D. Gudger, both of Salisbury; daughters Linda M. Conckel, Salisbury, and Susan R. Burrell, Holly Ridge, Tenn.; three brothers; six sisters; and six grandchildren.
The body was cremated.

Hazel M. Kimball
The funeral will be Friday for Hazel Ruth McDaniel Kimball, 83, a resident of The Meadows, Rockwell, who died Tuesday (Feb. 26, 2002) at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, after a week of serious illness.
Born July 3, 1918, in Rowan County, Mrs.Kimball was a graduate of Boyden High School. A Methodist, she retired from KoSa in 1979.
Her husband, George Henderson Kimball, died Nov. 13, 1994, and a son, Frank Kimball, died April 13, 1940. She was also preceded in death by a grandson.
Survivors include other son George W. Kimball, North Myrtle Beach, S.C.; daughters Hazel K. Jarvis and Patsy K. Wilson, both of Salisbury; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services: Graveside, 11 a.m. Friday, Rowan Memorial Park, conducted by the Rev. Samuel Harvey, pastor, Christian Baptist Church, Churchland.
Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight at the church and on Friday at the cemetery after the graveside service.

Bernice Scott Little
The funeral will be Friday for Bernice Scott Little, 81, Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation, who died Tuesday (Feb. 26, 2002) at the nursing center.
Born Sept. 30, 1920, in Rowan County, Mrs. Little, a daughter of the late Mason and Carrie Massey Scott, was a graduate of Price High School. She was a former food service worker at Catawba College and a former cook at Salisbury Country Club.
A member of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, she was affiliated with the Willing Workers, Senior Usher Board 1 and the Pastor’s Aide. She was also a member of J.C. Price American Legion Post 107 Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include half sister Evelyn Faye Scott, Salisbury.

MOUNT ULLA — Boyce Stephen Plummer, 92, Back Creek Church Road, died Monday (Feb. 25, 2002).
Born Nov. 14, 1909, in Iredell County, Mr. Plummer was a son of the late John Calvin and Margaret Christy Plummer.
A retired dairy farmer, he was employed by Long Meadow Dairy, Salisbury. He was an active member of St. James Episcopal Church, Mooresville.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nellie Hart Plummer, and his second wife, Flora Wagner Plummer.
He is survived by nieces and nephews.

Born Aug. 27, 1913, in Rowan County, Mr. Shaver, a son of the late John and Gertrude Partee Shaver, was educated in the Rowan County schools. He retired from McLaughlin Meat Co., Moores-ville.
A member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, Bear Poplar, he was a deacon.
His first wife, Christine Stockton Shaver, died July 6, 1981. He was also preceded in death by his second wife, Cora Partee Shaver.
