Many of us have read the misinformation printed in letters to the editor saying we had good news — WalMart and Sam’s were coming to our town. Don’t we wish that were true!
No, the real truth is that the city of Concord will now be the home of not one WalMart Super Center but two, plus a Sam’s.
And where are the people of Kannapolis going shop when those new businesses open? They’ll be shopping there and giving every dime of the tax revenue to the city of Concord. They’ll see that big selection of wine and beer at the WalMart Super Center and it won’t stop them from shopping there and putting their money in the cash registers.
Folks, if this is not a wake-up call for the city of Kannapolis, I don’t know what is. Sometimes I fear we will have to have “soup kitchens” before the folks in our town wake up. Give your hometown a chance for economic recovery. Vote for all issues on the March 5 ballot.
