In the Feb. 22 letters to the Post, Sylvia Chillcott wrote that Frank Brandt and Jody Everhart were members of the Spencer Board of Aldermen when the current sign ordinance was passed. This is not true because neither Mr. Everhart nor Mr. Brandt were members of the Spencer Town Board in 1999, when the present sign ordinance was adopted.
Ms. Chillcott, you did not mention that the sign is no longer on display at the corner of Samuel Spencer Boulevard and Salisbury Avenue. After Larry Smith, zone officer, notified Mr. Brandt that the sign was out of compliance, it was removed before the limited time that was given for removal. In fact, Ms. Chillcott, the sign was removed even before your letter appeared in the Salisbury Post. Furthermore, Mr. Everhart knew nothing about the sign before it was posted and he should not be wrongly accused.
