School solutions

SALISBURY POST

We need more jobs and fewer people moving into our county. The people on Medicare are in a bind to pay their bills. However, they are more fortunate than many.

Instead of building more schools with an 11-cent tax increase, think about what schools in Jefferson County, Colo., did. The schools in Littleton and Aurora staggered their school terms.

A third of the children attend from September to May; a third from June to February, and a third from November to July. Thereby, they were able to care for a third more children in the same buildings. Consider how much money this could save.
