Richard Beam

CHESTERFIELD, Va. — Richard Beam, Chesterfield, a former resident of Kannapolis, N.C., died Friday (Feb. 22, 2002).

Survivors include wife Ramona Beam; children Charlie, Jessie and Rachel Beam; sister Luzette Honeycutt; and his mother, Nadine Walter.

Services: 7 p.m. Tuesday, Bliley Funeral Home chapel, Richmond. Burial, 2 p.m. Wednesday, Unity United Methodist Church cemetery,Kannapolis, N.C.

Visitation: 5 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Fred W. Becker

LEXINGTON — Fred William Becker, 82, Lexington Health Care, died Friday (Feb. 22, 2002) at Lexington Health Care.

Services: Memorial, 1 today, Davidson Funeral Home chapel. Graveside, 11 a.m. Thursday, East Elfers Cemetery, Elfers,Fla.

Visitation: 11 a.m.- time for graveside service at the cemetery in Elfers, Fla.

Kathleen W. Everhart

LEXINGTON — Alice Kathleen Walser Everhart, 92, Swing Dairy Road, died Sunday (Feb. 24, 2002).

Services: Graveside, 11 a.m. Wednesday, Lexington City Cemetery.

Visitation: 6:30-8:30 tonight, Piedmont Funeral Home.

 

Rether ‘Pete’ Frick

MOUNT PLEASANT — Rether “Pete”Frick, 85, 8155 North Drive, died Sunday (Feb. 24, 2002) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord, after an extended illness.

Born April 16, 1916, in Cabarrus County, Mr. Frick was a son of the late Charlie A. and Eva Ann Troutman Frick. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

A member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church,Gold Hill, he served on the church council. He was awarded an honorary life membership by the North Carolina Lutheran Men in Mission.

Employed at Cannon Mills for 45 years, for the majority of that time he was a loom fixer at plant 4.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Ollie Lowder Frick.

Survivors include daughters Brenda Frick Miller and Joyce Mullis Hill, Mount Pleasant; brother Lewis Frick, East Spencer; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, Gold Hill, conducted by the Rev. Floyd Bost. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation:6-8 tonight, Gordon Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home of daughter Brenda Miller, 8096 North Drive.

Kevin Hathcock

Kevin D’Wayne Lynn Hathcock, three month old child of Phillip Lamar and Sandra Myers Hathcock, 1170 Majolicia Road, Lot 75, died Sunday (Feb. 24, 2002) at Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include brother Devin Lamar and Shane Austin Hathcock, both of Salisbury; paternal grandparents William and Debra Hathcock, Kannapolis; and maternal grandmother Reba Jane Campbell, Salisbury.

Services: 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Hartsell Funeral Home chapel, Concord, conducted by the Rev. Nelson Wright. Burial, West Lawn Cemetery, China Grove.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home on Majolicia Road.

ROCKWELL — Maggie Holshouser, 92, Rockwell, died Sunday (Feb. 24, 2002) at Autumn Care of Salisbury.

Aubrey Rachels

LEXINGTON — Aubrey Wilson Rachels, 79, 3002 Arnold Road, died Friday (Feb. 22, 2002) at Hefner VAMedical Center, Salisbury, after five years of declining health.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Davidson Funeral Home chapel. Burial, Old Wesleyan Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation:6-8 tonight at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home of daughter Margaret King, 5946 Old Salisbury Road.

Robert Boyce Setzer

Robert Boyce Setzer, 74, 1601 Brenner Ave., died Sunday (Feb. 24, 2002) at W.G. Hefner VAMedical Center.

Born April 12, 1928, in Catawba County, Mr. Setzer was a son of the late Eulas and Cordia Alma Cline Setzer. He was educated in the Catawba County schools.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, earlier in life he worked in a saw mill.

Survivors include brother Vernon Setzer, of Maiden.

Services: Graveside, 2 p.m. Wednesday, U.S. National Cemetery, Statesville Blvd., conducted by a medical center chaplain. Military rites by Rowan Veterans Council.

Visitation: 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, Summersett Funeral Home.

 

Keith Dale Shue

CHINA GROVE — The funeral will be Tuesday for Keith Dale Shue, 36, 190 Hazel St., died Saturday (Feb. 23, 2002) at Britthaven Nursing Center, Kannapolis.

Born Feb. 12, 1966, in Iredell County, Mr. Shue, a son of Judy Shue Richards and Roger Dale Pittman, was educated in the Rowan County schools. He was a self-employed painter.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include stepdaughter Morgan Taylor Nickerson, Salisbury; brother Michael Ervin, Kannapolis, and Johnny Love, Faith; and sister Sherry Stone, Rockwell.

Services: Graveside, 3 p.m. Tuesday, West Lawn Memorial Park, conducted by the Rev. Robert Earnhardt.

Visitation: 2-3 p.m. Tuesday, Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, Landis.

 

Fred David Spry

The funeral will be Tuesday for Fred David Spry, 75, Salisbury, who died Saturday (Feb. 23, 2002) at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center,Winston-Salem, after two years of declining health.

Born Jan. 4, 1927, in Lexington, Mr. Spry, a son of the late Arthur T. and Ellen Carter Spry, was educated in the Davidson County schools. He served in the U.S. Army during World WarII.

For 18 years he was employed by Proctor Chemical, now National Starch. He retired as a supervisor with Shaffer Iron Works where he was a finishing inspector.

A member of First Baptist Church, East Spencer, he was a life member of VFW 3006.

A son, Fred “Freddy’Spry Jr., died in 1975.

Survivors include wife Helen Bernice Fogleman Spry, whom he married Oct. 9, 1948; daughters Carolyn S. Hall, Judy S. Basinger and Janet S. Schenk, all of Salisbury, and Kay S. Dyson, Mullins, S.C.; brother Charlie Spry, East Spencer; sisters Rosie Brown, Reeds, Dot Gobbel and Pauline Shuping, both of East Spencer, Eunice Price, Linwood, and Violet Simmerson, Churchland; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services: 3 p.m. Tuesday, Lyerly Funeral Home chapel, conducted by the Rev.Sy Ponds, pastor, Providence Baptist Church. Burial, Rowan Memorial Park. Military rites by Rowan County Veterans Council.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home.

Beulah H. Truesdale

ALBEMARLE — Beulah Harris Truesdale, 95, 2929 Cloverfork Circle, formerly of Richfield, died Saturday (Feb. 23, 2002) at Britthaven of Piedmont.

Born Oct. 4, 1906, in Richmond County, Mrs. Truesdale, a daughter of the late Bradley B. Harris, was a retired homemaker.

She was a member of Richfield Baptist Church for 61 years, where she was active as long as her health permitted.

Her husband, Walter Edward “Ed” Truesdale, died in 1971.

Survivors include son Charles E. Truesdale, Richfield; daughter Phallie T. Drye, Albemarle; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Richfield Baptist Church, Richfield, conducted by the Rev. Eugene Carroll, the Rev. Claude Dick and the Rev.David Howard. Burial, Richfield Cemetery,Richfield.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight, Hartsell Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home of Clyde Drye, 2929 Cloverfork Circle.

 

Tom E. Wilson

KANNAPOLIS — The funeral will be Tuesday for Tom Ellis “Buddy” Wilson, 73, 2009 Concord Lake Road, who died Saturday (Feb. 23, 2002)at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord, after 14 months of declining health.

Born Oct. 28, 1928, in Union County, Mr. Wilson was a son of the late Tom and Ruby Lee Craig Wilson. He retired from Fieldcrest Cannon, where he was a supervisor in the distribution center.

A member of Second Presbyterian Church, he was assistant treasurer and an elder in the church.

Survivors include wife Chattie Clontz Wilson; daughter Stephanie Wilson-Furr, Midland; sister Allie Van Rowland, Kannapolis; and two grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Second Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. Brant Piper. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.

Visitation: 6-8 tonight, Lady’s Funeral Home.

Memorials: Second Presbyterian Church, 1010 Centergrove Road, Kannapolis, NC 28083.
