Mollie E. Baker
ROCKWELL — Mollie Eugenia Cress Baker, 80, of Rockwell, died Saturday (Feb. 23, 2002) at her residence after several months of declining health.
Born Nov. 21, 1921, in Greensboro, she was the daughter of the late Wiley Earl and Bessie Mayner Cress. She was educated in the Salisbury City Schools and was a graduate of Boyden High School.
Following high school, she joined the Army Civil Air Patrol where she was stationed at Morris Air Field in Charlotte during World War II. She later retired from Cannon Mills Plant #1 and was a homemaker.
A member of Christiana Lutheran Church, she was a member of W.E.L.C.A. Group 1, the Jenny THomas Bible Class, and has also taught Sunday School. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW #3006 and had been a girl scout teacher and leader.
Her husband, Carl Wesley Baker, preceded her in death on May 31, 1978.
She is survived by sons Roy Baker and Reid Baker, both of Salisbury, and Ronald Baker, Rockwell; daughter Karen Baker Goodman, Rockwell; brother
M.L. Cress, California; sisters Doris Agner and Betty Jo Haynes, both of Salisbury; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services: A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. today at Chrisitana Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Carl Haynes, pastor of the church. A private burial will be held at a later date.
Visitation: 2 to 3 p.m. today in the lower level of the church.

‘Bud’ Brady Jr.
George Lee “Bud”Brady Jr., 74, of Salisbury, died Friday (Feb. 22, 2002) at the Laurels of Salisbury.
Born Sept. 6, 1927, in Rowan County, he was the son of Lydia Daniel Brady of Salisbury and the late George Lee Brady Sr.
He was educated in the Salisbury City Schools and graduated from Boyden High School in 1944. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during World War II.
An employee of the Rowan County Sheriff’s Department, he retired as a Captain in February 1987.
He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where he served as usher. He was also a member and past Master of Fulton Masonic Lodge #99, AF and AM Scottish Rite, Oasis Shrine and a member of the Harold B. Jarrett American Legion Post #342.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 51 years, Margaret Poole Brady; brother Sam Brady of Salisbury; and sister Pat Rollins of Salisbury.
Services: 3 p.m. today at St. John’s Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Carl
Sachtleben, senior minister of the church, and the Rev. Jennifer Ginn and the Rev. John Tucker. Burial will be at Chestnut Hill Cemetery.
The family will be at their respective homes.

Lula Hartsell Crisco
ALBEMARLE — Lula Hartsell Crisco, 89, of 16055 Reap Road, died Friday (Feb. 22, 2002) at Stanly Manor.
Services: 3 p.m. today at Silver Springs Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Dennis Helms and the Rev. Langill Watson. Burial will be at the church.
Visitation was Saturday night. Other times, the family will be at the home on Reap Road.

Carrie Goodman File
Carrie Pauline Goodman File, 85, of Salisbury, died Saturday (Feb. 23, 2002) at Rowan Regional Medical Center after a period of declining health.
Born Aug. 16, 1916, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Mary Fesperman Goodman. She was educated in the Rowan County Schools.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chalmers File, in 1995.
Survivors include sons Robert File and Donald File, both of Salisbury; brothers Marvin Goodman and David Goodman, both of Salisbury; one grandchild and three great-grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Monday at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Bruce
Sheeks. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Visitation: 7 to 8:30 tonight at Lyerly Funeral Home.

Louise Rabon
Louise Carriker Rabon, 77, of Salisbury, died Friday (Feb. 22, 2002) at her residence unexpectedly.
Born July 15, 1924, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Will L. and Minnie Leonard
Carriker. She was educated in the Rowan County Schools.
She was a homemaker of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Troutman Rabon, on June 3, 1990.
Survivors include brother, Raymond Carriker, Woodleaf; sister Betty Carriker, Salisbury; and a number of grandchildren.

Vivian Ludwig Senter
Vivian Ludwig Senter, 89, of 914 Newsome Road, Salisbury, died Saturday (Feb. 23, 2002) at the Laurels of Salisbury.
Born Jan. 15, 1913, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Samuel W. and Fannie Young Ludwig. She was educated in the Salisbury City Schools.
She retired from Cartex Mills in 1976. She was a former member of Southside Baptist Church and had attended Oakland Heights Baptist Church.
Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Summersett Memorial Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Edwin
Bitner, minister of Oakland Heights Baptist Church. Burial will be at Rowan Memorial Park.
Visitation: 7 to 8:30 tonight at Summersett Funeral Home. Other times, the family will be at the home she and Samuel W. Batten shared at 914 Newsome Road.

Fred David Spry Sr., 75, of Salisbury, died Saturday (Feb. 23, 2002) at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem.

Albert B. Templeton
Albert B. Templeton, 81, of Autumn Care, died Saturday (Feb. 23, 2002) at Autumn Care.
Born Feb. 1, 1921, in Wilkes County, he was the son of the late Asbury and Dora Stallins Templeton. He was educated in the Wilkes County Public Schools.
He was a self-employed electrician. He was a member of Old Concord Road Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Survivors include wife Mary Corriher Templeton, of Salisbury; son Roy L. Templeton, Seneca, SC; daughter Carolyn Munford, Salisbury; and seven grandchildren.
