David Coward started wrestling only two years ago, but his lack of longevity hasnt
served as a handicap.Coward enters
this weekends 2A regionals at Eastern Guilford seeded first at 103 pounds.
North coach Tim Burns said Coward, who has
a 26-1 record, is seasoned enough already to deal with the pressure of being the top seed.
I wish I had 14 of him, Burns
said.Hes had some close matches, and he has really matured a lot this
year.
Other North wrestlers competing are:
112-pounder Larry Jackson, 145-pounder Keith Turner, 152-pounder Aaron Rimer, 189-pounder
Maurice Swaringen and heavyweight Kenny Brown.

SALISBURY:The Hornets have 13 of their
wrestlers in the regionals, and three got No. 1 seeds in the 2A regionals.
James Hobson (130 pounds), Bobby Rhodes
(160) and Joseph Walker (189) all got top billing in their respective weight classes.
Im proud of those guys, they
worked real hard, Salisbury coach Durwood Bynum said. What you put into it is
what you get.
Other Salisbury wrestlers competing on
Friday and Saturday are: Zach Koontz, Kyle Butler, Jaron Cathcart, John Demitraszek,
Thomas Eldridge, Brian Clark, Paul Kluttz, Josh Seastedt, Matt Russ and Jamar Hoke.

WEST ROWAN: Kyle Riddenhour leads the way
for the Falcons, who have five wrestlers seeded in the top seven of the 3A Midwestern
Regionals, which will be held at Mooresville on late Friday afternoon and Saturday
morning.
Riddenhour, seeded first in the 103-pound
weight class, gets a first-round bye.
Joel Hopler is seeded third for West Rowan,
and the Falcons have three wrestlers tabbed as the seventh seeds: 125-pounder Brent
Panther, 130-pounder Jeremy Connor and 140-pounder Brandon McCarty.
