Everett C. Austin

HUDSON — Everett C. Austin, 92, Pine Mountain Road, father of Jerry Austin, Granite Quarry, died Sunday (Feb. 10, 2002) at Caldwell County Hospice, Lenoir.

Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Center Grove Baptist Church. The body will lie in state at the church between 1-2. Burial in church cemetery.

Visitation: 6-8 tonight, Austin &Barnes Funeral Home, Boone.

Fred Brantley

ALBEMARLE — Fred Brantley, 85, 24724 U.S. 52 Hwy. S., died Saturday (Feb. 9, 2002) at Stanly Memorial Hospital.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, HartsellFuneral Home Chapel. Burial, Fairview Memorial Park.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

 

Essie Bowers Boone

ALBEMARLE — Essie Louise Bowers Boone, 80, 33734 Old Herlocker Road, died Sunday (Feb. 10, 2002) at Britthaven of Piedmont.

Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Cottonville Baptist Church, Norwood. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight, Hartsell Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home on Old Herlocker Road.

 

Geneva ‘Chloe’ Kyles

CHINA GROVE — Geneva “Chloe” Dagenhart Kyles, 89, China Grove, died Sunday (Feb. 10, 2002) at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.

Born July 10, 1912, in Alexander County, Mrs. Kyles, a daughter of the late Hosea and Mamie Drum Dagenhart, attended Alexander County schools. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church, China Grove.

Her husband, Henry Vance Kyles, died Feb. 15, 1994.

Survivors include sons Kenneth K. Kyles and Henry V. Kyles Jr., both of Salisbury, Frank J. Kyles, Winston-Salem, and Jimmie R. Kyles, Phafftown; sister Gladys Montgomery, Archdale; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Summersett Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev.Steve Wilson, First Baptist Church, China Grove. Burial, Cleveland Town Cemetery.

Visitation: 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home of Ola Mae Livengood, 1630 W. Ridge Road, Salisbury.

KANNAPOLIS — James Stephen “Steve” Mundy, 55, formerly of 2208 Moose Road, died Saturday (Feb. 9, 2002).

Whitley’s Funeral Home is in charge.

 

Mary Strube

KANNAPOLIS — Mary Furr Strube, 97, formerly of West F Street, died Sunday (Feb. 10, 2002)at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.

Lady’s Funeral Home is in charge.

 

T. Scott Treadway

Tyler Scott Treadway, 42, Salisbury, died Sunday (Feb. 10, 2002) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.
