Carla Cox Allison

The funeral will be Tuesday for Carla Kadette Cox Allison, 38, 1620 N. Lee St., who died Friday (Sept. 14, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Born Oct. 12, 1962, in Surry County, Mrs. Allison was a daughter of the Rev. Robert Leo and Gloria Greene Cox, both of Suffolk, Va. She was a graduate of Salisbury High School and Winston-Salem State University.

A former teacher, she taught at Salisbury High School, East Rowan High School and North Rowan Middle School. She owned/operated Nannie’s Playhouse Day Care Center.

She was a member of Cedar Grove AMEZion Church and a former member of Hall’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church and United Metropolitan Baptist Church, Winston-Salem. A member of Sisters and Partners Support Group, Concord, she was a volunteer with the American Cancer Society.

Survivors, in addition to her parents, include husband Billy Ray Allison; sons Joshua Terel and Jemarius Joel Allison, both of the home; stepsons Billy Ray Brown and Cedric Winecoff, both of Concord; stepdaughter Andrea Nicole Winecoff, Concord; brother Robert Leo Cox Jr., Suffolk, Va.; and sister Robin Rachelle Gillespie, Durham.

Services: 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Cedar Grove AMEZion Church, conducted by the Rev.LaDorsa Mays.

Visitation: 10:30-11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Rowan Funeral Service is in charge.

Myrtle L. Bowyer

SPENCER — Myrtle Lawless Bowyer, 89, formerly of Spencer, died Monday (Sept. 17, 2001) at Autumn Care of Salisbury.

George F. Fowler

George Foard Fowler, 86, Salisbury, died Monday (Sept. 17, 2001) at his home.

Michael A. Hollis

KANNAPOLIS —The funeral will be Wednesday for Michael A. Hollis, 51, 640 Smith St., who died Friday (Sept. 14, 2001) at Avante of Concord.

Born Jan. 19, 1950, in Kannapolis, Mr. Hollis was a son of the late Bessie Hollis. He was formerly employed by Fieldcrest Cannon.

Survivors include grandmother Ruby Hollis, Kannapolis; daughters Bettina Hollis Lawson, Kannapolis, and Monica Hollis Lee,Salisbury; sons Michael A. Hollis Jr., Salisbury, and Rodney Mason and Lapence Swann, both of Concord; and five grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, New Piney Grove Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Tracy Caldwell. Burial at Carolina Memorial Park.

Visitation: 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at the church. At other times the family will be at 1101 Skyland Drive.

Patrick H. Majors

CLEVELAND — Patrick Hershel Majors, Cleveland, died Sunday (Sept. 16, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.

Grady R. Misenheimer

ROCKWELL —Grady Russell Misenheimer, 72, Rockwell, died Sunday (Sept. 16, 2001) at his home after three years of declining health.

BornNov. 30, 1928, in Rowan County, Mr. Misenheimer, a son of the late George and Minnie Goodman Misenheimer, was educated at Rockwell High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

He was a self-employed brick mason for many years. In 1996, he retired after 14 years as a plumber at Oakwood Mobile Homes.

A Baptist, he was a member ofRockwell Amvets Post and Spencer Moose Lodge and a former member of Miller-Russell American Legion Post.

A son, Donald Russell Misenheimer, died in 1954.

Survivors include wife Betty Buchett Misenheimer, whom he married Jan. 10, 1954; daughters Debra Misenheimer Heard and Dona Misenheimer Peacock, both of Salisbury; sister Estelle M. Selle, Hyattsville,Md.; and four grandchildren.

Services: 4 p.m. Tuesday, Powles Funeral Home chapel, conducted by the Rev. Don Lyerly. Burial, Brookhill Memorial Gardens. Military rites by Rowan County Veterans Council.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Faye R. Price

Faye Romanstine Price, 53, Salisbury, died Sunday (Sept. 16, 2001) at her home.

Lewis Edward Stilley

The funeral will be Tuesday for Lewis Edward Stilley, 86, Salisbury, who died Saturday (Sept. 15, 2001) at Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation after a month of serious illness. He retired as a major in the Salvation Army.

Born Aug. 10, 1915, in Guilford County, Mr. Stilley was a son of the late Lewis Stilley and Viola Rickard Stilley Womack. He was educated in the Davidson and Rowan County schools. He graduated from the College for Salvation Army Officers in December 1941 along with his first wife, Lucile Leonard Stilley, who died Nov. 16, 1988.

He and his late first wife retired from the Salvation Army in 1980 with a combined total of 78 years of service. Their service took them to Statesville, Greensboro, Ashboro and Kingston; Paducah, Ky.; North Little Rock, Ark.; Wichita Falls, Beaumont, Dallas, San Antonio, Austin and Port Arthur, Texas; and Orangeburg, S.C.

A member of the Masonic Lodge in Dallas, Texas, he was a member of Scottish Rite Bodies and Oasis Temple of the Shrine in Charlotte.

Survivors include wife Luola File Pegram Stilley, formerly of Greensboro, now of Montgomery, Ala.; daughters Ella Fisher Snider, Spencer, and Linda Milstead, Shreveport, La.; brother George E. Stilley,Salisbury; sisters Bertha Everhart and Rebecca Smith, both of Salisbury; two stepsons of Montgomery, Ala.; a stepdaughter stationed with the Salvation Army in Maryland; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Services: 3 p.m. Tuesday, Lyerly Funeral Home chapel, conducted by Col. David Holtz and Captain Terry Ray of the Salvation Army. Burial, family plot in Rowan Memorial Park.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
