Ethel Eccles

ADVANCE—Ethel Studevent Eccles, 77, 4206 U.S. 158, died Friday (Sept. 14, 2001) at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center following a brief illness.

Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Graham Funeral Home, Mocksville, conducted by Brother Bernard Revels. Burial, Redland Church of Christ cemetery.

Visitation: 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

 

Puey Efird Frye Epps

CHINA GROVE—Puey Efird Frye Epps, 84, 402 Haney St., died Saturday (Sept. 15, 2001) at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center.

Born Dec. 16, 1917, in Stanly County, Mrs. Epps was the daughter of the late Christopher Jacob and Bonita Burris Efird.

Educated in the Stanly County Schools, she was a homemaker and also worked 38 years at China Grove Cotton Mills in the twister and winder rooms.

She was a member of South China Grove Baptist Church.

Her first husband, Nicholas Eddman Frye, died in 1942, and her second husband, John Nelson Epps, died in 1984.

Survivors include son John Phillip Frye, Salisbury; daughter Helen Frye Johnson, Mooresville; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Service: 4 p.m. today, South China Grove Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Derald Adams. Burial, West Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Linn Honeycutt Funeral Home, China Grove, is in charge.

Visitation: 3 to 4 p.m. today in the church fellowship hall.

Rebecca Kistler

MOORESVILLE—Rebecca Barber Kistler, 79, N.C. 152, died Friday (Sept. 14, 2001) at Genesis Eldercare.

Born March 16, 1922, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Graham and Mary Elizabeth Turner Barber.

A graduate of China Grove High School, Mrs. Kistler was a homemaker and member of Thyatira Presbyterian Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Herron Kistler Sr.

Survivors include sons Bill Kistler, Mooresville, and Eddie Kistler, Statesville; brothers Bob Barber, Cleveland, and Tom Barber, Jackson, Miss.; sisters Helen B. Chandler, Troutman, and Mary Ruth Barber, Mooresville; and three step-grandchildren.

Services: 3 p.m. today, Cavin-Cook Funeral Home chapel, conducted by the Rev. Rob Hinman. Burial, Glenwood Memorial Park.

Visitation: 2 to 3 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Lillie Mae Lowe

KANNAPOLIS — Lillie Mae Barnhardt Lowe, 79, 901 W. 8th St., died Saturday (Sept. 15, 2001) at NorthEast Medical Center.

Born Sept. 25, 1921, in Cabarrus County, Mrs. Lowe was the daughter of the late Mack Grover and Mary Jane Roberts Barnhardt.

She retired several years ago from the towel cutting room of Cannon Mills Plant 1. She was a Baptist.

Husband Rufus Arlie Lowe and sons Bobby and William “Bucky” Lowe preceded her in death.

Survivors include daughters Peggy Upright and Linda Stewart, both of Kannapolis; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services: Graveside service, 2 p.m. Monday, Carolina Memorial Park, conducted by the Rev. Stan Welch.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight, Lady’s Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home of daughter Peggy Upright, 2137 Glenwood St.

 

Robert ‘Bob’ Miller III

Robert Bingham “Bob” Miller III, 68, 415 Confederate Ave., died Saturday (Sept. 15, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Summersett Funeral Home is in charge.

 

Walter E. Thompson

LEXINGTON—Walter Emanuel Thompson, 64, died Friday (Sept. 14, 2001).

Services: 2 p.m. Monday, Piedmont Funeral Home chapel.

Visitation: 6:30 to 8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
