The funeral will be Sunday for Mary McLendon Allen, 92, formerly of 1424 Statesville Ave., Charlotte, who died Tuesday (Sept. 4, 2001) at Brightmoor Nursing Center in Salisbury.
Services: 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Second Calvary Baptist Church, Charlotte. Burial, Beatties Ford Memorial Garden, Charlotte.
Visitation: 1-1:30 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Eric C. Bowlin
CHINA GROVE — The funeral will be Sunday for Eric Christopher Bowlin, 26, 2510 Hwy. 152 W., who died Thursday (Sept. 6, 2001) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.
Born July 23, 1975, in Cabarrus County, Mr. Bowlin was a son of Dewey Micheal and Marcia Dunlap Bowlin of Kannapolis. A 1993 graduate of South Rowan High School, he was a driver in the Nascar mini stock series at Caraway Speedway in Asheboro.
He was employed with Cloninger Ford and Toyota, Salisbury.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include brother Micheal Brian Bowlin, Kannapolis; and grandparents Don and Lelia Bowlin of China Grove.
Services: 3 p.m. Sunday, Whitley’s Funeral Home chapel, Kannapolis, conducted by the Rev. Richard Pethel. Burial,Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis.
Visitation: 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home of his parents, Dewey Micheal and Marcia Dunlap Bowlin, 510 Dunlap St., Kannapolis.

Berry Eudy Jr.
Berry Clifford “Peanut” Eudy Jr., 52, of 621 Cedar St., died Thursday (Sept. 6, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.
Born Aug. 8, 1949, in Cabarrus County to the late Rose Brown Eudy and Berry Clifford Eudy, he was educated in Cabarrus County schools.
Mr. Eudy was formerly employed by China Grove Cotton Mill.
Survivors include wife Daisy Bell Brown Eudy, brothers Joe Lee Eudy of Granite Quarry and Gary Wayne Eudy of Landis and sister Peggy Eudy Glover of China Grove.
Services: 11 a.m. today graveside at Grace Lower Stone UCC, led by the Rev. Crowell, pastor of West Corinth Baptist Church. Burial at the church.
Visitation: following the service at the church and other times at 1180 N.C. Highway 152 East in China Grove.

Wesley R. Hawkins
SEAFORD, Del. — Wesley R. Hawkins, 59, 22186 Brinsfield Ave., a native of Salisbury, N.C., died of cancer on Thursday (Sept. 6, 2001) at his home.
Born May 17, 1942, Mr. Hawkins was a son of the late Hoyle A. and Husie Hawkins. He attended Spencer High School and North Rowan High School in Spencer, N.C. from 1958-1960. He worked at Wink’s Barbecue, Salisbury, N.C., from 1958-1965.
In 1966, he moved to Pennsylvania and was employed by Riegel Paper Co. for 15 years and later at Champion Roofers in New Jersey. He moved to Delaware in 1989 and was employed with Solo Cup in Federalsburg, Md. until he retired due to ill health.
Mr. Hawkins was a volunteer for Branchburg Rescue Squad and Milford Fire Department.
Survivors include wife of 29 years Carol Hawkins; son Wesley R. Hawkins Jr., Pennsylvania; stepdaughters Debbie Colton, Fenton, and Lisa Covert, New Jersey; granddaughter Jessica Covert, of the home; brothers Walter Hawkins, Spencer, N.C., and Bobby Hawkins, Salisbury, N.C.; and two other grandchildren.
The body was cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held 4-8 p.m. Monday at the home on Brinsfield Avenue.

Bobby Gene Lakey
MOCKSVILLE — Bobby Gene Lakey, 75, of Farmington Road , died Friday (Sept. 7, 2001) at his home.
Born July 22, 1926, in Davie County, to the late Roland Winfrey Lakey and Bernice McClamrock, he graduated rom Farmington High School.
Mr. Lakey was retired from Gra-Mac Irrigations, Roadway Express and Piedmont Aviation. He was a member of Farmington Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by wife Lou Jean Riddle Lakey in 1996 and son Roland Lakey III in 1983.
Survivors include daughter Lou L. Tollison of Mocksville and one grandchild.
Services: 2 p.m. Sunday at the Farmington Community Cemetery, led by the Rev. Greg Little. Burial at the cemetery.
Visitation: 7 to 8:30 tonight at Eaton Funeral Home.

Golfred Morgan
LEXINGTON — Golfred Hilbreand Morgan, 84, of Hillside Drive, died Friday (Sept. 7, 2001) in the Brian Center Nursing Home after a one-month illness.
Born in Rowan County on Feb. 1, 1917, he is the son of the late Alexander Morgan and Nancy Jane Fraley Morgan.
He was owner and operator of Hilbreand’s Inc. for 30 years and former co-owner of Morgans Inc. Mr. Morgan was a member of North Lexington Baptist Church, a Gideon’s and President of the Gideon’s Lexington Camp, former member of the Lexington Civitains’ clubs and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
Survivors include wife Dorothy Gladys Frick Morgan of the home, son Johnny H. Morgan of Lexington, daughters Barbara Morgan Brewer of High Point and Joan Morgan Alexander of Center, Texas, brothers David B. Morgan of Lake Norman and John A. Morgan Jr. of Wilmington, sisters Hattie Mae Howard o China Grove and Annie Dell Forrest of Spartanburg, S.C., six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Sunday at Davidson Funeral Home memorial Chapel, led by Robert Floyd. Entombment at Forest Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Visitation: 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home and other times at the home.

Lewis O. Wallen
The funeral will be Monday for Lewis O. Wallen, 65, Salisbury, who died Thursday (Sept. 6, 2001) at Carolinas Medical Center,Charlotte.
Born Feb. 25, 1936, in Blackwater,Va., Mr. Wallen, a son of the late Phillip and Lillie Scott Wallen, was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was employed for 30 years with Filament Fiber Technology, Inc., traveling to Maryland, New Jersey and North Carolina.
Survivors include wife Ruby Wallet; daughters Rhonda Winters, Hanover,Md., Beverly Burdick, Huntingtown, Md., and Jeannine Butina, Severn, Md.; brothers Arnold Wallen, Jonesville, Va., and Wayne Wallen, Churchill, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services: Graveside services will be held Monday at Willis Cemetery in Blackwater, Va.
Visitation: 6-8 tonight, Summersett Funeral Home. After visitation, the body will be taken to Blackwater Baptist Church, Blackwater, Va., for visitation on Sunday and burial on Monday.
