Margaret Bryson
Margaret Knight Bryson, 79, 537 N. Cedar St., died Thursday (Aug. 30, 2001) at Rowan regional Medical Center.
Born May 21, 1922, in Columbia, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Wesley and Lillie Douglas Knight. She was educated in the Columbia public schools.
Mrs. Bryson was a domestic worker and a member of Ambassador Christian Church, where she was on the Mothers’ Board. She attended Lafayette Nutrition Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lewis Bryson Sr.
Survivors include son James Lewis Bryson Jr., Salisbury; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
Services: Noon Wednesday at Ambassador Christian Church, conducted by Dr. John L.
Krider, pastor. Burial ill be at Oakwood Cemetery.
Visitation: 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service at the church.

Myrtle B. Cagle
CHINA GROVE—Myrtle Basinger Cagle, 88, 307 Ross St., died Sunday (Sept. 2, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.
Born Sept. 16, 1912, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Baldy E. and Hester Shore
Basinger. She was a graduate of Farm Life School.
Mrs. Cagle was the former co-owner of Kiddy-Kare Nursery in China Grove for 30 years. She was a member of New Life Assembly of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Clyde Cagle, on Sept. 2, 1969.
Survivors include daughter Carolyn B. Simpson, of the home; sister Mildred Basinger
Winecoff, China Grove; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services: A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Carolina Memorial Park, conducted by the Rev. Charles King.
Visitation: The family will be at the residence on Ross Street following the service.

LEXINGTON — Anthony “Tony” Craig Conrad Sr., 47, Nat Conrad Road, died Sunday (Sept. 2, 2001) at his residence.
Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Holly Grove Lutheran Church, where he was a member, conducted by the Rev. Michael Evans. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Visitation: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. tonight at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel. Other times, the family will be at the home.

Margaret W. Davis
NEWTON — Margaret Wagoner Davis, 82, of Abernathy Nursing Center, Newton, formerly of China Grove, died Sunday (Sept. 2, 2001) at Abernathy Nursing Center.
Born Jan. 13, 1919 in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Berry F. and Jennie Barringer Wagoner. She was a graduate of Concord High School and Catawba College.
Mrs. Davis was a retired elementary school teacher, having taught in China Grove and Burlington. She was a member of Grace Lower Stone Church.
Her husband, the Rev. Hiram E. Davis, preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons Joseph H. Davis, Eden, and Jonathan E. Davis, Lexington, SC; daughters Peggy Davis Wolfe, Broken Arrow, Okla., and Sally Davis Allen, Tulsa, Okla.; sister, Alma W.
Leinbach, Newton; and six grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Lower Stone Church, conducted by Dr. Richard Cheek. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Visitation: Following the service, the family will be at Grace LowerStone Church.

Milton N. Kraus
ALBEMARLE—Milton Nathan Kraus, 88, 415 Park Ridge Road, died Saturday (Sept. 1, 2001) at his home.
Born Feb. 8, 1913, in New York, he was the son of Isadore and Josephine Kraus. He was a graduate of Pratt Institute.
He was a licensed professional engineer in the state of New York and New Jersey. He was a retired mechanical engineer for Colgate Palmolive.
Mr. Kraus was a member of the Merchant Marine, serving as an engineer in Brooklyn Navy Yard during World War II on an Iowa Class battleship. He was on the shake-down crew of the USS North Carolina.
He wrote three books on engineering and several articles for Chemical Engineering magazines.
He was a member of Tau Beta Pi Engineering Fraternity and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
Survivors include his wife, Ingeborg Helga Klee Kraus, Charlotte; sons Russell Kraus, Albemarle, and Michael Kraus, California; daughter Joanne
Marchak, Clearwater, Fla.; and sisters Roslyn Moran, California, and Lillian
Dobkin, Arizona.
No visitation or services have been scheduled. The family will be at the residence.

CHINA GROVE—Harry G. Miller of China Grove died Sunday (Sept. 2, 2001) at the Hefner VA Medical Center, Salisbury.

LEXINGTON — Louise Hartley Cline Moody, 84, Bethesda Road, died Saturday (Sept. 1, 2001) at Lexington Memorial Hospital after two months of illness.
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel. Burial will be at Bethesda United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Visitation: 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday prior to the services at the funeral home. Other times, the family will be at the home on Bethesda Road.
