Spencer needs Bean

SALISBURY POST

I am writing to endorse the candidacy of Alicia Waddell Bean for the Spencer Board of Aldermen. Alicia has a direct vision of what she wants to see changed in Spencer. A lot of her ideas have come from being directly involved in the community. She has listened to what people want changed and is willing to work to make it happen. A few of her ideas include: stricter sign ordinances to make our town cleaner and neater, making absentee landlords responsible for their properties and enforcing codes. While the work is looking good on Main Street and Library Park, she feels attention should be paid to all areas and back streets of our town. And in the future she would like to see a community recreation center.

Alicia is a very good neighbor to my family and our neighborhood. She goes the extra mile and lends a helping hand to those in need.

Alicia is an active member of First Baptist Church of Spencer, where she leads the youth. Her husband, Tony Bean, is a Spencer volunteer firefighter and has served on the department for 13 years. They are active members of the Spencer Jaycees.

I feel Spencer needs to rethink its vision statement — “Spencer on the right track.” Well, what are we on — a steam engine or an Amtrak? The past few years we have been moving like a steam engine. We need new faces with new ideas. Bring on the Amtrak — elect Alicia Bean to the Spencer Board of Alderman.
