Sports in the community and sports in the school system are great. The movie “Hard Ball” is a great and inspiring look at the reality of sports. The movie is now playing in theaters across the nation.
There are so many things that we take for granted. Some of the best athletes come from broken homes and/or below-poverty backgrounds. As an athlete growing up in the eastern part of the Rowan County, I want to give some recognition to the coaches that always remained at the site until all athletes were assured of getting home in a safe manner. I am sure that there are still some good coaches out there that are concerned about the athletes’ wellbeing as well as their performance on the field. I would like to give recognition to the following coaches:
Cansler, Sims, R. Mills, J. Mills,Cupree, Bowles, Pabors, Rhodes, and Beck. If you are a coach, teacher, volunteer, or athlete, “Hard Ball” is a movie that shows reality. Watch this movie, and it will help change the way you view athletes.
