Carlie C. Doby, 78, Salisbury, died Sunday (Oct. 28, 2001) in Loris, S.C., after a period of declining health.
Born July 3, 1923, in Rowan County, Mr. Doby, a son of the late Lock A. and Betty Motley
Doby, was educated in the Rowan County schools.
He served with the U.S. Marines during World War II. He was self-employed and was a Baptist.
His wife, Clarice Young Doby, preceded him in death.

Born Aug. 30, 1943, in Concord, Mr. Drye was a son of the late B.W. and Daisy Horton

Mozell Barger Hall, 81, Salisbury, died Tuesday (Oct. 30, 2001) at her home.
Born April 14, 1920, in Rowan County, Mrs. Hall, a daughter of the late Jess Luther and Eula Graham Barger, was educated in the Rowan County schools.
She retired from KoSa after 10 years of employment and was a member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church.
Her husband, James A. Hall, died July 2, 1975; a daughter, Peggy Eason, died in 1972; and a granddaughter died in 1969.
Survivors include daughter Barbara H. Beck, Salisbury; sisters Addie “Liz” and Julie
Barringer, both of Concord, and Florence Goodnight and Mary Katherine Hendrix, both of Salisbury; two granddaughters; and five great-grandsons.

MOORESVILLE — The funeral will be Thursday for Carl Fred Heglar, 81, 355 Corriher Grange Road, who died Saturday (Oct. 27, 2001) at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born March 29, 1920, in Rowan County, Mr. Heglar was a son of the late Victor Cabot and Julia Cohen
Heglar. He was a graduate of Landis High School. He served in the U.S. Army in the Battle of the Bulge during World War II.
Retired from Cannon Mills, he was a life member of Concordia Lutheran Church.
A daughter, Patty Ann Heglar, died in 1954.
Survivors include wife of 55 years, Thelma Hall Heglar; son Steve Eugene Heglar, Mooresville; daughter Susan Heglar Nicholson, Mooresville; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Born June 7, 1940, in Rowan County, Mr. Hodge, a son of the late Jessie Columbus and Ruth Eller Hodge, was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a retired automobile dealer.

MOCKSVILLE — Alice Berrier McCullough, 95, Mocksville, formerly of South Main Street, died Tuesday (Oct. 30, 2001) at Autumn Care of Mocksville.
Born July 29, 1906, in Davie County, Mrs. McCullough was a daughter of the late Isaac and Annie Cope
Berrier.
A homemaker, she was a lifelong member and the oldest living member of Concord United Methodist Church.
Her husband, J.C. McCullough, died in 1987.

Thomas G. Redwine
RICHFIELD — Thomas Gerald Redwine, 66, 45245 Gold Branch Road, died Monday (Oct. 29, 2001) at Stanly Memorial Hospital, Albemarle.
Born April 9, 1935, in Stanly County, Mr. Redwine was a son of the late William T. and Doris Lee Williams
Redwine. He graduated from Richfield schools and served in the U.S. Army from 1958-63.
He retired as owner and operator of Redwine’s Garage in 1988. He had also worked for
W.D. Warner and Spence Motors and was in the dump truck business with Ritchie
Deese. He also owned an auto racer.
He was a member of Richfield United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday school, was chairman of the finance committee and was a member of the administrative council and parsonage committee. He was also the church historical assistant and church auditor and was a past chairman of the trustees and a past Sunday school superintendent.
Survivors include wife Deanna Lemmons Edwards Redwine; stepsons Richard E. and Russell L. Edwards, both of New London; sister Mary Frances Almond, Richfield; and four grandchildren.

Born Aug. 24, 1983, in Rowan County, Miss Smith was a daughter of William “Bill” Henry and Patricia “Pat”Barringer Smith of Salisbury. She was a 2001 graduate of West Rowan High School and was a cosmetology student at
Rowan-Cabarrus Community College.
An employee of IHOP in Salisbury, she attended Cornerstone Baptist Church.

KANNAPOLIS — Wade Leroy Taylor, 81, 105 Crestwood Court, died Tuesday (Oct. 30, 2001 ) at his home after 13 months of declining health and two weeks of serious illness.
Born Dec. 23, 1919, in Kannapolis, Mr. Taylor, a son of the late James Walter and Ora Mary Robinson Taylor, served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He owned and operated a bookkeeping and tax preparation service prior to his retirement. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include wife Lucille Barringer Taylor; daughters Barbara T. Smith, Concord, and Patricia T. Wilson, Wilkesboro; sister Ora Lee Taylor Dennis, Richmond, Va.; and three grandchildren.
