Life’s good in Landis

SALISBURY POST

My husband and I feel we are very fortunate to live in Landis. Landis is a community where everyone works together to help others. Though we are new residents, I would like to offer an example of why we feel Landis is such a special place.

Last year, we were in the process of building our new home. We had set a goal to be in it by Christmas. Things looked to be right on target when I made an appointment to have the movers come on Thursday, before Christmas, to move our furniture from the house we had been renting into our new house. However, we hit a snag and the inspector could not be there until Friday.

On Friday before Christmas, our house passed inspections, and the inspector called for our electricity to be turned on. The HVAC contractor was onsite to connect our furnace so that we could have heat as soon as the electricity was turned on. At 5:30 that evening, we had no electricity. We were between homes. No furniture in one, no lights, no heat in the other.

At 5:35, an employee of Landis Power, on his way home, pulled into the drive and asked whether we had gotten the electricity turned on. Our reply was negative. His response was positive. By 6:15 p.m., we had electricity.

This attitude of service and caring about others is a result of our mayor’s leadership. We appreciate our city officials and hope they can continue to serve Landis citizens after the election.
