LANDIS —Ruth Berry Beaver, 80, 299 W. Grandview Heights, Boone, formerly of Landis, died Monday (Oct. 15, 2001) after a year of declining health and six months of serious illness.
Born Feb. 16, 1921, in Greensboro, Mrs. Beaver was a daughter of the late Willie M. and Bernice Turner Berry.
Her husband, Harrison “Jay” Beaver, died Dec. 19, 1999.

Born Jan. 30, 1915, in Catawba County, Mrs. Dellinger, a daughter of the late Charles H. and Annie Eugenia Cline Deal, was a beautician and an active member of Jackson Park United Methodist Church.
Her husband, Craig Johnson Dellinger, preceded her in death.

Born in Forrest City, Ark., Mr. May was a longtime carpenter and construction worker. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
Survivors include wife Rebecca H. May, Rockwell; two sons of Arkansas; two daughters of Arkansas; three stepsons Mark and Jonathan Jacobs, both of Rockwell, and Kevan Jacobs, Salisbury; and several grandchildren and

Nannie Baker Shankle
KANNAPOLIS — Nannie Baker Shankle, 89, formerly of 806 Beechwood St., died Sunday (Oct. 14, 2001) at Transitional Health Care.
Born July 14, 1912, in Ashe County, Mrs. Shankle was a daughter of the late Alvis Eli and Wanda Cox Baker. In 1972, she retired from Cannon Mills Plant 4, No. 2 spinning room, where she worked for 45 years.
She was a longtime member of several Church of God churches in Kannapolis, including Elm Street, Kannapolis West A Street, Fisher Street and Lane Street.
Her husband, Sylvester Clyde Shankle, died Sept. 18, 1997.
Survivors include daughter Joann Shankle Blanton, Davidson; sons Burton Shankle, Davidson, and the Rev. Clyde
Shankle, Dunlap, Tenn.; sister Thelma Hurley, Ashe County; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Ruth Allen Webster
Ruth Allen Webster, 83, Trinity Oaks, died Sunday (Oct. 14, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.
Born March 27, 1918, in Androscoggin County, Maine, Mrs. Webster was a daughter of the late Howard James and Alberta Marshman Allen. She was a 1939 graduate of Bates College.
A school teacher, she taught at the Language Institute and Defense Language School in
Washington,D.C., before World War II. She was a veteran of the WAVES, serving with Military Intelligence during World War II.
She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and the Salisbury Bridge Club.
Survivors include husband Donald Curtis Webster, whom she married Oct. 13, 1942; son Donald Curtis Webster Jr., Mount
Ulla; and daughter Ann W. Rea, Denver, Colo.
Services: The body will be cremated. No services are planned.
Visitation: None.

The funeral will be Thursday for Mary Inez Owen Wightman, 92, 505 Sycamore Drive, who died Monday (Oct. 15, 2001) at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center.
Born July 17, 1909, in Rowan County, Mrs. Wightman, a daughter of the late Jessie H. and Emma Alexander Owen, was educated in the Rowan County schools. She was a self-employed beautician and a member of Salem Lutheran Church.
Her husband, Donald Wightman, died in September 1990.
Survivors include daughter Louise Ashley, Bunker, Mo.; brothers Douglas Owen, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Jessie Owen, Spencer; sisters Deneale Kiser, Asheville, and Hazel Mayhew, Statesville; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
