LEXINGTON — Robbie Myers Massey, 82, North N.C. 150, died Thursday (Oct. 11, 2001) at the Centerclair Nursing Home.
Services: 2 p.m. Sunday, Davidson Funeral Home chapel, conducted by the Rev. Max Shoaf and the Rev. Doug McGee. Burial, Reeds Baptist Church cemetery.
Visitation: 6:30 to 8:30 tonight at the funeral home and other times at 2233 Giles Road.

Clyde Ray Miller
CONCORD — Clyde Ray Miller, 68, 422 Lakeshore Place, died Thursday (Oct. 11, 2001) at NorthEast Medical Center after an extended illness.
Born Jan. 12, 1933, in Rockwell, Mr. Miller was a son of the late Clarence Allen and Mattie Alice Kluttz Miller. A 1951 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School, he served in the U.S. Army’s military police during the Korean War.
He owned and operated Miller Landscaping and Lawn Service Co. for almost 30 years. His health forced him to retire in 1987. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include Brenda Miller, his wife of 29 years; daughters Karla Dawn Miller, Concord, and Alice Ann Miller-Ward, Kannapolis; son David Allen Miller, Concord; brother Guy Miller, Concord; sisters Frances and Ruby Cline and Ruth Penniger, all of Concord, and Jean Davis, Atlanta, Ga.; and four grandchildren.
Services: 3 p.m. Sunday, Whitley’s Funeral Home chapel, Kannapolis, conducted by the Rev. Steve Sexton. Burial,Cabarrus Memorial Gardens, Concord.
Visitation:7-9 tonight at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home on Lakeshore Place.
Albert P. Nifong
LEXINGTON — Albert P. Nifong, 74, Follansbee Road, Winston Salem, died Friday (Oct. 12, 2001) at Forsyth Medical Center.
Services: 3 p.m. Sunday, Faith Missionary Alliance Church, conducted by the Rev. Michael Gates and the Rev. Albert Smith. Burial, Parklawn Memorial Park, Winston Salem.
Visitation: 7 to 9 tonight, Davidson Funeral Home chapel and at other times at the home of son Darrell Nifong, 655 Follansbee Road.
Charles ‘Moe’ Raper
WHEELING, W.Va. — Charles J. “Moe” Raper, 75, Wheeling, died Wednesday (Oct. 10, 2001) at his home.
Born May 10, 1926, in Clover, S.C., Mr. Raper was a son of the late John Henry and Cora Thomas Raper.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired as a long-distance truck driver for Tower Lines Inc. He was a member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 1 and Warwood Veterans Association.
A son, Kenneth F. Raper, preceded him in death.
Survivors include wife Betty Frick Raper; sons Stephen C. Raper, Byron,Ga., and James W. Raper, Memphis, Tenn.; daughter Sherry Raper, Dothan,Ala.; brothers Clyde Raper, China Grove, and Hartford Raper, Spencer; sister Eula Taylor, Flushing, Ohio; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Monday, Wittenberg Lutheran Church, Granite Quarry, conducted by the Rev. Bob Voelker, Wittenberg pastor. The body will be cremated. Burial, church cemetery.

ALBEMARLE — Ellis Carroll Smith, 63, Albemarle, died Friday (Oct. 12, 2001) at his home.

Ronnie T. Smith Jr.
The funeral will be Sunday for Ronnie Truett Smith Jr., 23, Salisbury, who died Thursday (Oct. 11, 2001) at his home.
Born April 11, 1978, in Rowan County, Mr. Smith was the son and stepson of Sandra Peeler Lane and Keith Lane of Salisbury and the son of Ronnie Truett Smith, of Salisbury.
He attended Salisbury High School and was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. He worked as a carpenter in the mobile home manufacturing business.
Survivors, in addition to his parents and stepfather, include wife Mitzi McDaniel Smith, whom he married Nov. 8, 1996; sister Diane Elizabeth Lane, Salisbury; grandparents Hoy Peeler, Josephine Earnhardt Peeler, Mr. and Mrs. Truett Smith and Mildred Smith, all of Salisbury; and great-grandmother Myrtle Fleeman, Gold Hill.
Services: 2 p.m. Sunday, Powles Funeral Home chapel,Rockwell, conducted by the Rev.Darrell Norris, pastor, Union Lutheran Church. Burial,Brookhill Memorial Gardens, Rockwell.
